Flowers and Butterflies

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a good week and ready for the weekend. Fingers crossed the nice weather we're having will last.

I've a couple of cards to show you today and the first uses some more of those large roses I'm trying to use up. The image is from a LOTV art pad, the dies are Tim Holtz stitched rectangles, patterned paper may be from The Hobby House (but not certain) and I added gold peel-off corners and sentiment and a butterfly to finish.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

In The Pink challenge 'flower power'

Deep Ocean challenge 'flowers everywhere'

And my second card uses a leftover paper which may be Hunkydory (but again not certain) with Marianne Design butterfly dies and a Tattered Lace happy birthday die. I added quite a lot of Stickles around the butterflies and it looks much better IRL than in the photo.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Butterfly challenge 'butterflies + R for repeat and/or the colour night sky'

Double D challenge 'things that fly'

Thanks for popping by today and if you hadn't already heard the NBUS September / Boo Boo challenge is starting tomorrow over at Darnell's blog.

Winter followed by Spring

Well I know the clocks went forward in the UK but it feels like mine went on a whole week instead of an hour..... that last week really zipped by in a flash and I'm still trying to catch up with it! But I'm finally here and have a couple of makes to show you today.

The first is winter and I've used all Tim Holtz goodies for this one. I recycled the back of a very thick shop bought card to make a tag and gesso'd through a TH mini stencil 'holiday script'. When that was dry I heat embossed the TH 'holiday joy' snowflakes stamps around the edge (taking Darnell's advice to wipe first with an antistatic cloth) and then used 3 different blue Memento inks to add colour. Using the same TH 'holiday joy' set (which I won some time ago in the Playground) I stamped the trees, stag and snowflakes and cut with the matching dies. I added a good helping of Stickles to the snowflakes and then finished it all off with a piece of lace tied with some baker's twine. Not my normal style but I'm rather pleased with the way it turned out.

and here are a couple more that have caught the light and show up the layers and sparkle a little better

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Country View challenge 'inspired by Tim Holtz'

Rudolph Days March challenge 'anything goes christmas'

Stamping Sensations challenge 'close to nature' my 2nd entry - I hope this fits the theme but if not please delete

Simon Says Wednesday challenge 'use more than one die or punch'

..... and following quickly on the heels of winter is spring (thanks goodness). Up until 1752 the first day of the new year here in England was 25th March (Lady Day) and to me it does feel more like a new year with the winter coming to an end and all the wonderful new growth and colours of the spring bulbs. I especially love the lilac and yellow crocuses, so they are the colours I picked to use with the wonderful Uniko 'beautiful blooms III' stamp. A very CAS card with a couple of lines embossed and a leftover sentiment from a decoupage sheet - this is definitely more my style. I was very lucky and won a voucher in Uniko's Birthday challenge so I have lots more fabulous stamps that I'll be able to show you next week when Darnell hosts her super NBUS challenge

I made this for the Uniko challenge 'spring with an optional theme of easter'

So that's it from me for now -  I'm off to take all the batteries out of the clocks as I reckon that's the only way I'll manage to have 24 hours in a day! Thanks for taking the time to call by today and I hope you all have a great week.

CAS and a CASE

Good morning to you all and I hope you're having a happy and healthy weekend.

I've another twosome for you today and the first is a snippets make and also a CASE. I used Spellbinders Impressabilities 'flowers' to stencil the background with blue ink (doen't really show up in the photo though) and then attached it to a kraft card base. I used my NBUS Memory Box 'breezy waves' die for the branches and hand cut the leaves. For the nesting boxes I used an Xcut hexagon die which I trimmed along two sides, added some strips for the roof and punched a hole before hanging them from the branches with a hand drawn string. Finally I added a sentiment which was a magazine freebie - not sure if it was me or the sentiment but it looks a bit blurred so I think I'll have to do a cover up job before it goes flying off anywhere!

I'm skipping over to see Miss Di and the playmates at Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge as this was made entirely from snippets.....

and I'm also heading over to Time Out challenge as this was a CASE of Jenny's fabulous card below

and finally to AAA Cards challenge CAS game #86 - Diecuts

For my second card I've gone with an adorable Penny Black stamp 'here comes christmas' coloured with my usual Promarkers, chalks for the sky and a dash of Stickles for the snow. I added a Uniko sentiment from the 'most wonderful' stamp set, then matted with some red mirricard and attached to the card blank.

I've made this for the following challenges

Stamping Sensations challenge 'close to nature'

Penny Black and More challenge 'anything goes' my 3rd entry

As You Like It challenge 'favourite stamp brand and why' my 3rd entry
It has to be Penny Black.... who could not fall in love with these little hedgies and they have so many images suitable for any occasion.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge 'anything goes christmas with option no patterned paper'

So that's it from me for today. Thanks for popping by today and I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

More Flowers and a Mice Cuppa Tea

Hi everyone, I'm back with another couple of cards today and the first uses more of those large roses I'm trying to get rid of. The paper is Dovecraft 'princess fairytale' with some oddments of lace and ribbon added before attaching to the card blank. The sentiment is a Woodware stamp which I cut with a Tattered Lace nesting die and then matted on to some card that I cut cut with the next size die. The sprig die is Marianne Designs which I've had for eons and now finally given up on - no matter how much I've tried it just won't cut properly any more despite using quick release foam, trying to sharpen it with foil, using it in different machines, etc - so now it's finally in the bin. The butterfly is a Cheery Lynn die with a couple of pearls added and to finish I added some sparkle with Stickles.

I made this for Mrs A's Butterfly challenge where it's butterflies and E for edges and/or the colour mint green.

For my second card I printed one of the sheets from the Joanna Sheen House Mouse decoupage CD. The yellow striped paper is from another House Mouse CD, the green paper is a leftover from the card above and I added some ribbon and pearls to finish it off.

I made this for the following challenges

CD Sunday challenge 'enjoy tea / coffee'   and these little meecies are certainly doing that!

Deep Ocean challenge 'dots and/or stripes'

House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge 'let's have a party / anything goes option'

Thanks for popping by today and for taking the time to leave me a comment. I'm off now to pour myself a cuppa and put my feet up.

And A Twosome To Follow

After my trio of cards on Friday all I've managed for today is a twosome and the first is using the Penny Black 'hello friend' stamp set. I stamped the image and sentiment and then used a circle die to cut out the balloon part of the image which I coloured with Promarkers. After sticking the stamped card to a leftover piece of paper and then on to a base card I popped the circle back in place using some sticky pads.

I shall enter this in the following chalenges

Time Out challenge 'love and/or friendship with the option of spotlight stamping' It's their 3rd Birthday Party

Penny Black and More challenge 'anything goes'   my 2nd entry

As You Like It challenge 'favourite stamp brand and why'   my2nd entry
Penny Black... I just can't resist all the fabulous images

And for my twosome.... well I decided to have another go with flowers and it was as much a hair pulling excercise for me as the one I showed you in my last post. First off I embossed a piece of white card with a Craftwell 'delicate dots' folder, wrapped some light grey and white ribbon around it, then attached it to a 7 inch card base. I have a fabulous NBUS die from Tonic called 'wild vine circle' which is a set of 4 dies so can be cut in several ways and I cut 2 with centres from white card and one without the centre from silver card which I layered up (offsetting the first 2 white ones). So far, so good but then it came to the flowers and pearl spray and after I managed to get them stuck in place and hopefully looking okay I added a silver peel off corner, some gems and a bow.....  then I came to add a sentiment which I'd printed off and cut with a wavy edged circle die and I realised I'd stuck the flowers down so well that the circle wouldn't slip under them! So after a bit of thought (and a few expletives) I printed off another sentiment and cut it (freehand) into a banner which I actually think looks better than the original circle. Now I've only got another nine of those large roses to throw in the bin use in a creative way !!

and this shows the silver colour of the wreath better

I made this for the Win & Tonic February challenge and used the technique 'bling' the product 'Tonic' and the theme 'happy anything'

So that's it from me for today, I'm off to have a bit of a spring clean and sort through my folders of digi stamps and get them all backed up. Hope you all have a great week.

A trio of Cards

Well I have no idea where that last week disappeared to but I have managed some crafty time and also do a bit of housework into the bargain.... and I have three cards to show you today so make yourself a cuppa and get comfy.

So here's the first ot them using a fabulous stamp called 'va voom' from Penny Black which I coloured with Promarkers. I also used chalks to add a light shading of blue and green around the image for the sky and grass but it doesn't really show up in the photo. The design is so quick and CAS with just a couple of corners punched and a ribbon tied round before sticking to the base card. I haven't added a sentiment yet as I'm not sure if it will be a birthday card or just happy mail.

I shall enter this card in the following challenges

Penny Black and More challenge 'anything goes'

Rubber Dance Stamps Colour challenge 'magenta, yellow, turquoise'

As You Like It challenge 'favourite stamp brand and why'

That definitely has to be Penny Black - they have such a wide variety of images suitable for every occasion and are a dream to ink up - and I have more of that brand than any other as I just can't resist their new releases.

Penny Black Saturday challenge 'bright and cheerful colours'

On to my second card... Now as I played truant from the Playground last fortnight I knew I had to have a play with some snippets before Parsnip sent me off to stand in a corner, so I used 3 strips of leftover LOTV papers to cover a 5 x 7 inch base card. I used my usual Promarkers and chalks to colour a Bugaboo 'scene it easter' digistamp before cutting it with a Tim Holtz 'stitched rectangle' die. I also used a snippet of pink card cut with another of the rectangle dies to mount the image before adding the butterfly, flower and ribbon.

This card is heading over to the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground 'use snippets'

Double D challenge 'think spring'

Noor Design UK challenge 'spring'

And finally card number three..... which I must admit took me an absolute age to make and I almost gave up on (several times).  I have some 12 x 12 papers and a bag of flowers which I was tempted to bin but then I decided 'nothing ventured' as they say. I folded an A4 card for the base and used one of the sheets to cover it, then used a piece of the same sheet to cover a strip of white card before adding a length of ribbon and sticking to the base card. The dies are Memory Box 'chloe stem' and 'catalina wreath' (cut several times and glued together for extra strength) and the small daisies are a Dovecraft punch with some gems in the centres. I added two of the largest flowers, ribbon, butterfly, pearls, a sentiment left over from a decoupage sheet and a Clearly Besotted sentiment stamped onto a die cut circle. I really have difficulty with mulberry flowers and this style of card - and I've now got to make a box for this to fit in!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges

Memory Box challenge 'ribbons'

Scrapy Land challenge 'anything goes with a brand of die that Scrapy Land sells'

Cute Card Thursday challenge 'for mothers / ladies only'

Happy Little Stampers challenge 'anything goes with dies'

Phew after all that I need a cuppa myself. Hope you all have a fun crafty filled weekend - I shall be spending mine wondering how to use up the rest of those flowers!

Uniko Digi and Wings

Hi everyone, I hope you've all had a great weekend. I had a crafty play this afternoon and put together a card using a fabulous free digistamp from Uniko - you can find details of how to get this and 3 others in the Uniko blog post here - Thank you Bev.

I made a card base from a piece of patterned card I've had for ages (so not sure of the brand) and then added a piece of white card embossed with a Craftwell 'argyle' folder.. The image was coloured with my usual Promarkers and then I added a Happy Little Stampers 'happy birthday' sentiment using my fabulous mini Misti. The butterfly and ribbon are also from my old stash.

Sorry about the awful photos, there is actually lot more colour to the flowers than it shows in either of them. Roll on better weather and more light! It's definitely one of those cards that looks so much nicer IRL.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Uniko 5th Birthday challenge 'birthday card'

Tuesday Throwdown challenge 'things with wings'

The Ribbon Girl challenge 'anything goes card'

Thanks for your visit today and for taking the time to leave a comment.

Mice and Joyful

I've been rather distracted this week as Dad had to go in hospital for an operation... he's home now and doing well and yesterday I was determined to make a card so I picked out a decoupage that I'd made up a couple of weeks ago. It's one of those super sweet images of the little mice family from the Joanna Sheen House Mouse decoupage CD and I cut it down to a square before matting on to gold mirri-card. The holly leaves are a Tattered Lace die with a few pearls added and the 'joy' is a Tim Holtz matching stamp and die.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

CD Sunday challenge 'punches and/or dies'
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge 'anything goes christmas'
ABC Christmas challenge 'e for edge / f for family / g for girls' I picked f for the House Mouse family
Die Cut Divas challenge 'for thee love of animals / pets'
Making Memories challenge 'add some layers'

Thanks for popping by and I hope you have a great weekend. I'm off to visit Dad and take his shopping but hopefully I'll get round to visit you later and maybe even have time for a crafty play.
