Rudolph Robins - take two

It's Rudolph time again and as I'm suffering with dreaded flu germs my card is another quick and CAS make. This time my robins are a LOTV topper matted onto gold mirri card and then onto a 5x5 inch card blank with a sentiment from my stash. Well I did say it was quick and CAS.... and isn't it such a shame that LOTV decided to stop making these fabulous toppers.

I'm entering this in the following challenges

Rudolph Days challenge 'christmas'

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge 'use a sentiment'

Winter Wonderland challenge 'must use a sentiment'

Fab 'n' Funky challenge 'christmas'

ABC Christmas challenge ' D for don't overdo it'

Hiding In My Craft Room challenge 'any holiday'

I'm off now to snuggle up in a blanket and watch a DVD (or probably sleep through the DVD). Thanks for popping by today and I'll call around to visit when I'm feeling a bit more human !

Tickled Pink

When my daughter first moved to Australia I sent her a small gift and a card for no reason apart from I saw something I thought she'd like. She was so delighted to get this in the post and I realised that to see someone's handwriting with a few words on a card for no reason other than a 'just because' can mean more than the biggest gift or longest email.  For that reason I think my favourite occasion for cards is when you send the message that you're thinking of someone and taking the time to write to them.

This is one of those cards..... a very CAS design using a Memory Box 'chloe stem' die, a Clearly Besotted sentiment, some sequins and the space inside to write those special words.

IRL it's a softer looking pinky pink than the photo shows

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Memory Box challenge 'tickled pink cards'

AAA Cards challenge 'sequins'

As You Like It challenge 'favourite occasion and why'

Simon Says Wednesday challenge 'anything goes'

Winter Wonderland challenge 'clean and simple' my 3rd entry

It's rather chilly here today but at least the sun is shining and the spring bulbs and blossom are starting to make an appearance. Hope it's as nice where you are.

Fluffy and Bluebells

Well actually the image I used for this card is called 'Fluffy on the Lily' but I reckon they could be bluebells too. It's a digi stamp from Sylvia Zet which I coloured with Promarkers. I decided to go for a light and fresh design so I used a Die'sire Embossalicious folder to emboss the card blank to give it a bit more texture. The flowers are made with a Cheery Lynn 'large rose' die with card candi centres and the leaves behind is a paper flower folded in half. The sentiment is from Crafters Companion and the pearls and ribbon from my stash.

It was a bit hard to photograph so that you could see the embossing.

I shall enter this on the following challenges

Mod Squad challenge 'the great outdoors'
Cupcake Inspiration challenge 'photo inspiration'
Passion for Promarkers challenge 'dies and / or punches'
The Ribbon Girl challenge 'use any image'
Crafty Cardmakers challenge 'for a special woman'
Crafting From The Heart 100th challenge 'anything goes'
Whimsy Inspirations Monthly challenge 'anything goes'

and as I used snippets of card for the flowers and a snippet of ribbon for the bow I shall head over to Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge where to join in the fun you have to 'use up your snippets'

Monday, 22 February 2016

I was trying to think of a witty title for this post - maybe 'throw it in the bin' would be more apt!

I saw a challenge that required you to do some stamping with an embossing folder and after watching the video tutorials that made it look easy I thought I should give it a go. Well after several attempts this was the best I could come up with. The rest of the card is self explanatory... a stamposaurus stamp (I found hiding in the back of the cupboard) which I coloured with Promarkers, Sakura glaze and glitter pens with a generous helping of Stickles on the icing, a silver peel-off sentiment and a bit of card candi.

Don't know about you but I reckon it looks more like the strawberry got squashed on the background! Oh well, at least I tried.

and this one shows the sparkle on the cupcake a bit better

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge 'embossing folder stamping'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'clean and simple' 2nd entry
Allsorts challenge 'birthday wishes' 2nd entry
Stamping Sensations challenge 'anything goes' 2nd entry

Thanks for your visit today and I'll be around to see you later.

Sapphire Butterflies

It seems like time's speeding up this year and although I have good intentions I keep missing deadlines for challenges but as Mrs A's Butterfly challenge is 2 Years Old I really wanted to join in and celebrate with her. The magic letter for us to follow this fortnight is S.. for stamping and sapphires.

My mojo's not really been fluttering around lately but then I remembered a set of NBUS stamps from Clearly Besotted called 'Flutterby Dreams' (now discontinued) hiding in the back of the cupboard. I used 3 of the butterfly stamps and a selection of blue inks to stamp a background which I then matted onto some Core-dinations cardstock and then onto a card base. The sentiment is also from Clearly Besotted and I added a Cheery Lyn butterfly die with a couple of gems to finish it off.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Butterfly challenge 'S  for stamping + sapphires'
Country View challenge 'make your own background'
Penny Black and More challenge 'anything goes with a stamp and a die/s'
Stamping Sensations challenge 'anything goes'
Allsorts challenge 'birthday wishes'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'clean and simple'
Bunny Zoe's Crafts challenge 'things with wings'

Chocolate Mouse

Hi everyone and thank you for all your best wishes and lovely comments about my new baby granddaughter. I've still got a smile a mile wide when I look at her photo. Carole who is one of the playmates over at Pixie's Playground has also just become a grandma to a wonderful baby boy so we may just be doing a bit of matchmaking in the future.

I'm just popping by with a very quick make today using another of those House Mouse decoupage sheets I printed off. I matted it onto a piece of red paper which I salvaged from a christmas card and then stuck it straight onto a card blank. I did the same with the sentiment and then added all the leftover 'sweets'

I shall enter this in the following challenges

House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge 'rain or shine / anything goes'
Gruffies & Guests challenge 'a splash of orange for Henry / anything goes'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'anything goes + option of a sketch'
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'something for the males'

Well I'm off now to search for my mojo (which is probably hiding in a box of chocolates somewhere) as there are a couple of challenges I want to join in with. Thanks for popping by and for taking the time to leave your greatly appreciated comments.

Baby Granddaughter

Hi everyone and thanks for popping by. Well as you may have guessed from the title of this post I became a grandma for the first time on Friday 12th February when my daughter gave birth to a beautiful 7lb baby girl. A few hiccups along the way but all is okay now and mum, dad and baby are home and getting used to being a family.

This is the card I made for my son to send them and I must admit to using this super card by Pauline of Crafting with Cotnob as my inspiration. The image is a digi stamp from Di's Digi Designs called 'animal shelf' coloured with my usual Promarkers and the sentiment is from Clearly Besotted stamps. I cut it to fit a snippet of paper from Dovecraft and added a ribbon and the little charm. To finish I added a couple of very old buttons (one heart shaped) from when my daughter was a baby.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'  I'm hoping Brenda will break out the champagne in the Treehouse while Miss Di is otherwise engaged and Sarn is on prefect duties
Mod Squad challenge 'from the heart'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'have a heart
Creative Artiste challenge 'anything goes with mixed media
Ooh La La challenge 'clean and simple'
Great Impressions challenge 'let's celebrate'
Catch the Bug challenge 'keep it simple'
The Ribbon Girl Card challenge 'anything goes'
Sweet Stampin' challenge 'CAS clean and simple'

And I can't go without being a proud granny and showing you a photo. Just wish I could pick her up and give her a cudddle and a kiss.

Mousey Love

Hi everyone, well I reckon the postie must have read about my last post about my daughters cards as they arrived the very next day - only 4 weeks after being mailed. We're still waiting on the baby to make an appearance and I must admit to sitting by the phone and jumping every time it rings !

Anyway on to my card... the image is one of the many decoupage sheets I printed out from the Joanna Sheen 'House Mouse' decoupage cd (which is still on sale here at half price). The papers are loose sheets and the sentiment, pearls and ribbon are from my stash. The flowers are Poppystamps 'blooming posie' die with Stickles in the centres and the flourish behind the flowers is a Marianne die.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

House Mouse and Friends Monday challenge 'love is all around / anything goes' (2nd entry)
Gruffies & Guests challenge 'a splash of orange for Henry / anything goes'
The ABC challenge 'A is for animals'
Time Out challenge 'inspired by words'
Poppystamps challenge 'crazy in love'
Pearly Sparkles challenge 'all you need is love... and pearls'  This is a new monthly challenge blog
Live & Love Crafts challenge 'love is in the air'
Noor! Design UK challenge 'love'
Paper Creator's Crafts challenge 'must be love'
Creatalicious challenge 'love is in the air'

A new supply of sticky pads arrived in the post today so I'm off now to make up some more of these little meecies. Thanks for popping by and for all your lovely comments.

Birth Day Cupcake Dreams

Hi everyone, hope you've had a great weekend. There is a bit of a story behind the card I made today and I'll try to keep it as short as possible so as not to bore you...

My pregnant daughter had her birthday last month and I duly mailed her cards in plenty of time but somewhere between England and Australia they decided to go walkabout - a bit disappointing for her but not the end of the world and I did send her the photos of them. Now this is the worst bit - she is rather partial to chocolate and a cake or two, but unfortunately she developed gestational diabetes and has had to give up all sugary things.... NO christmas goodies and NO birthday cake !  Baby's due anytime now so this is a replacement birthday card I've made to send (along with the baby cards) and I reckon this could be a picture of her after immediately after giving birth !!

The image is of course from Mo Manning and is called 'cupcake thief' which I coloured with Promarkers. The Penny Black sentiment worked perfectly as inside I shall write 'Eventually'.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Allsorts challenge 'clean and simple'

Passion for Promarkers challenge 'show us your favourites'
lots of favourites here - image, sentiment stamp, Promarkers, Daughter, cupcakes

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
The sentiment is printed on a snippet of card and I accidentally on purpose cut the image a bit too narrow so had to add a snippet of blue paper down the side... must say it looks better like that

Creative Inspiration challenge 'hugs and kisses - create something for a friend or loved one'
I reckon my daughter is both of those

and last but not least
DP2 challenge 'anything goes with a Mo image'

Thanks for popping by today and for all your lovely comments. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope you have a good week

Christmas Snippets

Hi everyone. A quick post from me today as I have very sore eyes - maybe from sitting cutting out too many sheets of decoupage?

This is a very quick and CAS small card to use up a PB 'In a pear tree' image I'd stamped before christmas.  I stamped twice in two shades of green, masking off the bird and adding a sentiment from the same set. Then it was layered onto a snippet of silver mirri-card and to finish it off I added gems and pearls.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge 'christmas anything goes'
and as I used 'snippets' I'm having another skip over to join in with Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge

I'm also heading over with another entry to Penny Black Saturday challenge where it's 'anything goes'

Thanks for popping by today and for all your lovely comments. I shall be round to visit later if I manage to get down from the treehouse in one piece (the Playground playmates know what I mean)

Mice and Pink

I've been promising myself a new printer for a few months now as the one I had was getting a bit temperamental, so when out shopping on Friday I saw the one I liked and duly treated myself. Not wanting to waste the little remaining inks from the old printer I thought I'd run off some decoupage sheets from the Joanna Sheen 'House Mouse decoupage' cd I'd bought in December... Now this is where all my plans for the weekend went completely out of the window because the nearly almost empty ink cartridges (maybe enough to print four or five decoupage sheets) acted as though a magic spell had been cast on them producing more and more ink and I spent most of Saturday and Sunday printing off sheets and sheets and more sheets of decoupage before the magenta finally gave up the ghost - still leaving the other 3 cartridges with a little ink but preventing any more printing.

So guess what I've used for my card today - yes, you've got it - a decoupage sheet from the House Mouse decoupage cd which is still on offer at half price from Joanna Sheen if any of you are interested. This is one of my favourite images as the sight of blossom means spring and hopefully better weather. The paper is Hunkydory, the flowers are made with a Poppystamps 'blooming posie' die from snippets (guess who's heading over to the Playground treehouse!) of designer papers with Stickles centres, and the ribbon and gems are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following chaallenges

Pixies's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Allsorts challenge 'bring on the bling'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'pastel colours
In the Pink challenge 'bling it on' (2nd entry)
House Mouse & Friends challenge 'love is all around ' anything goes'
Gruffies & Guests challenge 'bingo / anything goes'
Crafty Ribbons challenge 'fabulous flowers with ribbon'
CD Sunday challenge 'seasons'
As You Like It challenge 'one or multi layer' - I do like CAS cards but decoupage images (especially these little meecies) with all the layers are my great love

Thanks for popping by and for taking the time to leave all your lovely comments. I'm off now to try and set up this new printer. Fingers crossed this one has magic inks too !
