Rudolph Robins

I can't believe it's already time for the first Rudolph challenge of 2016 and as I'd still got these three Clearly Besotted 'rockin robins' left over from last years makes I decided to go for a quick and cas card. I used a 5 inch base card and leftovers of white and gold card cut with QuicKutz nesting dies. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and for any of you who may be interested I see that this stamp set and co-ordinating dies are half price in the stock clearance at the moment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Rudolph Days January challenge 'anything christmas'
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge 'use a sentiment'
Tuesday Throwdown challenge 'anything goes'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets' (my 2nd skip around the Playground)

Thanks for popping by today and I'll be around later to visit you.

Sunday, 24 January 2016

Evening everyone, hope you've all had a good weekend and had lots of crafty fun.

I've been having a play with one of the new dies I got before christmas which is from Memory Box and called 'heart waterfall'. I had planned something a little different using a lot more white and a white base card but you know what can happen to plans! I wanted some of the hearts in the lighter pink and had to cut the die at an angle to fit it on the card... then I decided I liked the look of it 'skewiff' and matted it onto dark pink card and ditched all the white apart from the small heart. I stamped a Clearly Besotted sentiment and then - a first for me - I added some sequins.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Allsorts challenge 'Valentine's day'
Mod Squad challenge 'love is in the air'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'something new'
In The Pink challenge 'bling it on'
DRS challenge 'inspired by - sweet candy heart - colours'
Die Cut Divas challenge 'new technique / die / stamp / colours' (2nd entry)

So a couple more Brownie points for me... used snippets and NBUS. Problem is both piles still are pretty big - but at least I've not added to them this year YET!!

Winter Sparkle

Gosh I can't believe another week is almost up and I only just got chance to play last night. Don't ask me what I've been up to as it's one of those times that have been non-stop and nothing seems to have got done!

With the freezing cold weather we have at the moment I felt quite in the mood for a christmas card. As for New Year resolutions - not doing so well on the NBUS stash but at least I'm still on track with the old stash and snippets. I followed a sketch which was perfect for LOTV paper snippets with the strip of white card hiding the gap perfectly. The LOTV topper (matted onto a snippet of mirri-card) is several years old  - I just ordered some of the LOTV art pads before christmas as they were special offer so thought I really should use up the last of the old toppers. I used snippets of card for stamping the snowflakes which are NBUS from the fabulous Tim Holtz stamp & die set I won in the Playground (the other bits are stamped and die-cut but yet to be added to a card). Finally a liberal helping of Stickles added to the image and snowflakes to give the winter sparkle.

Poor lighting here today so here's another that shows the sparkle a bit better

It really is such a shame that LOTV have discontinued the art pads and paper pads. I know so many people loved them as they were excellent quality and perfect for when you don't want to stamp.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Allsorts challenge 'girly + sparkly'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'glitter and shine'
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge 'cute or anything goes'
Digi Designs challenge 'include snow or snowflakes'
Creatalicious challenge 'snowflakes'
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'January blues'
Double D challenge 'brrrr'
Sketch Saturday challenge 'sketch'

Got to run now as we have to take my Dad shopping but I promise to catch up with you all over the next couple of days.

Inky Butterfly and More Tweets

While having a sort out of my crafty cupboard I came across this stamp which I got ages ago and it's one of those stamps I wouldn't normally buy but was on sale and so of course it found it's way into my basket.

It's a Penny Black slapstick cling called 'garden letter' which I stamped with Memento 'desert sand' ink, coloured with Promarkers and I outlined the edges of the butterfly, bird and flowers with a Sakura glitter pen to make them stand out a bit. I ran a gold pen (looks a bit black in the photo) along the edges of the card before matting onto a piece of Dovercraft 'princess fairytale' paper and then onto a 5 x 5 inch card base. It needed something else so I added some gold gems to finish.

Mrs A's Butterfly challenge is asking for a 'butterfly and I for inks' so I'm heading over to join in the fun.

Also the Penny Black Saturday challenge has 'anything goes' as their first theme for 2016 so I shall head over there as well.

I seem to have a bit of a thing going on this year as all my posts have included a bird... it wasn't intended but I just wonder if it's all the birds I hear singing when I wake up in the morning that's  influencing me?! Anyway, thanks for popping by today and I hope you all have a good weekend.

More Tweetness

I'm still on track using up old stash and also my new crafty additions but sadly no new technique with this card. Still 2 out of 3 is not so bad.... and I've not bought any new stuff this year YET!! - Just wondering if I can last out until February?!

The (first time inked) stamp which I coloured with Promarkers is from Crafters Companion 'Moonbeam Meadow' and the Cheery Lynn die 'medium rose' flower is the other new addition. The old stash is paper (last sheet) from Pink Petticoat, blue ribbon (last piece) and gems. The other dies I used are Memory Box 'twirling vine frame' and Marianne Design Creatables swirly shape and the sentiment is from the same Crafters Companion stamp set as the image.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~

Penny Black and More challenge 'one for the girls'
Stamping Sensations challenge 'anything goes with a die/s'
I Love Promarkers challenge 'use something new'
Mod Squad challenge 'friendship'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'florals'
Die Cuttin' Divas challenge 'tweet tweet, use a bird'
Scrapy Land challenge 'anything goes with a brand of die Scrapy Land sells'
Tuesday Throwdown challenge 'add dimension'
A Gem of a challenge 'female birthday'
Sweet Stampin' challenge 'flowers'

Thanks for taking the time to pop by today. I'm off now to have a rummage through the crafty cupboard to see what else I can find.

So Tweet

Hi everyone and a special welcome to my new follower Barb of Barb's Faraway Cards

I may be going a bit slow this year but at least I have tried something else which is 'new' to me although I've seen it done on so many card around blogland.... I inked up an embossing folder with 3 different colour inks before adding the card and running it through my machine. Okay it may not be much but it's something I've been meaning to do for ages and this seemed the perfect time as one of the challenges I'd seen had the theme to use the 'ombre' technique which is having colours or tones that shade into each other. Also 'new' to me is this Bugaboo digistamp 'flowerbird' which I coloured with Promarkers. It's a simple design using nesting dies to cut out the image and computer-made sentiment. I also managed to use up some snippets of pearlescent card and ribbon.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Mod Squad challenge 'ombre technique'
Allsorts challenge 'ribbon and lace'
Digi Designs challenge 'it's new to you'
Cute Card Thursday challenge 'hey, what's new'
Paper Creator's Crafts challenge 'anything goes'

My motivation and inspiration are a bit in short supply at the moment so I'm having a good sort out of my craft cupboard. I think the more 'really must have' craft stuff I gather, the less ideas I get and the more likely I am to 'lose' stuff in the back of the cupboard! It's so hard to admit that I didn't really want that 'must have' unused stamp / die / embossing folder / etc etc..... but when I see them on your blogs and the fabulous creations you make then I just can't resist the temptation!

So for 2016 my new resolution for buying crafty stuff is - 'Not Unless I'll Use It'

Something New for 2016

It's a New Year and all good intentions are abounding in my head.... though I'm not sure how long they'll stay there or if they will ever materialise into reality! BUT it's only the 5th January and I have tried something new (for me) in the form of Gesso and Glimmer Glaze, a new stamp and a different kind of style .

I had a mini sort out in the craft cupboard and found this canvas (last of a pack of four) and rather than just stamp and colour I decided to be a bit more adventurous so decided to start by stencilling with some gesso. I cut the dies from snippets of card and used Tattered Angels glimmer glaze to cover the birdcage which I curved before sticking in place to add dimension. Then it was a case of playing around until I came up with something I quite liked.

This is what I used
Memory Box stencil 'texture mesh'
Memory Box die 'fairytale flower border'
Cheery Lynn die 'hummingbird' B193
Marianne Creatables die 'birdcage' LR0147
Dovecraft punch 'daisy'
Designs By Ryn stamp 'leafy branch'
from my stash - pearl stamens, flowers, gems, pearls

Sorry about the poor photo - it really does look quite lovely IRL

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
Creative Inspirations challenge 'anything goes'
Allsorts challenge 'what's new'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'
Creative Artiste challenge 'anything goes'
Live & Love Crafts challenge 'something new'
Noor! Design UK challenge 'anything goes'
Die Cut Divas challenge 'new technique, die, stamp, colours'
As You Like It challenge 'anything goes'
The ABC challenge 'Y is your choice'
Crafty Calender challenge 'something new'

So that's my first make of 2016 and as for my new year's resolution list -
try something new  tick
use old stash  tick
use up snippets on all my makes  tick
....... not sure how long this will last !!
