Birthday Wings

I'm just popping by with a quick and CAS card I made while sitting in front of the fan trying to cool down a bit!.... and while on the subject of fans, if any of you have any experience of the (very pricey) Dyson fans I would love to know what you think of them as I'm tempted to put one on my shopping list if they are worth it.

But back to my card... the gorgous image is a Sylvia Zet Whimsy stamp coloured with Promarkers and the sentiment is LOTV, both cut with nesting dies. I used snippets of LOTV paper, pearlescent card and ribbon and pearls from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Penny Black and More challenge 'wings'
Stamping Sensations challenge 'dies and punches'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'take your pick' - I picked product theme use pearls
Passion For Promarkers challenge 'clean and simple'
Pixie's Snippets Playground 'use snippets'
Cuttlebug Mania challenge 'sentimental journey'
Loves Rubber Stamps challenge 'celebrations'
Creatalicious challenge 'ribbon and pearls'

So that's it from me for now - time to go and soak up a bit more sun. Hope you're enjoying lovely weather where you are and if not at least you can have some indoor crafty time.

Butterflies and Flowers

Evening everyone, hope the weekend is going well for you and that you're enjoying some good weather as I am.

My favourite crafting item has got to be my Grand Calibur and with all the fabulous dies on offer there is no end to what can be created, so when I saw on a couple of your blogs that Memory Box now has a challenge - shouts of yippee - I couldn't resist joining in. Also I was determined to get a card made for Mrs A's butterfly challenge as I missed the last couple (due to lack of sequins and doileys).

I was having a bit of difficulty in picking which of my dies to use when I found a sketch and it all fell into place. The background paper is a sheet I've had for sometime (can't remember where from) and the snippets are Dovecraft and My Minds Eye. I used Memory Box 'fresh foliage' and 'fancy blossoms' dies with a butterfly, pearls and rose organza ribbon from my stash.

and here it is with a bit more light on it

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Butterfly challenge 'butterflies + F for flowers'
Memory Box challenge 'butterflies'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'your favourite crafting item'
Cardabilities challenge 'sketch'  and this is the sketch I followed

I'm off now to have a bit of a crafty play. Thanks for popping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Gingerbread Man

Morning all, just a quick post from me as I have to dash out shortly and I just realised the challenge that motivated me to play finishes today.

A while ago I bought a pack of shaped kraft boxes and of course they got put in the cupboard and were forgotten about.. so when I saw the 'christmas but not a card' challenge I remembered this gingerbread man and thought it was time he got dressed up a bit. I used my last tiny piece of red check ribbon for his scarf, card candi for his buttons, Liquid Pearls for the 'icing' and for a bit of fun I decided to give him 'googly' eyes. I know the 'icing' isn't very good but them I'm no good at icing cakes either!

and here's another

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Winter Wonderland challenge 'anything but a card'
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge 'merry and bright'
Rudolph Days challenge 'christmas card or project'
Crafty Ribbons challenge 'anything goes'
Natalie and Amy's challenge 'christmas'
Fab 'n' Funky challenge 'christmas'

Thanks for popping by today and I really hope to be a better blogger and catch up with you all soon.

Summer Fun

Hi everyone, hope you've had a super weekend especially those celebrating father's day with their dad.

I always like to have a few CAS cards put aside that can be given to fundraising events and here's another for the box (which is pretty empty at the moment). The paper is Dovecraft,  the image is an Elisabeth Bell digi-stamp coloured with Promarkers and I added a peel-off sentiment from my stash. As I said CAS, and also a very quick make.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

In the Pink challenge 'summer'
Without Words challenge 'summer holidays'
Digi Designs challenge 'summer fun'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'ohh so pretty'

Thanks for taking the time to pop by and I hope you have a good week.

Fathers Day

Good morning to you all and I hope the weather is a bit more cheerful in your neck of the woods. Before I get on to my card I should just explain my absence the past week or so - I simply couldn't motivate myself to do any blogging or crafting... But I've been forced into action as fathers day is upon us yet again and although my Dad say he's 'not bothered' I am and I count myself so lucky to be able to make him another card.

Dad has always been a gardener so I trawled through my Joanna Sheen cds and picked this image from the 'Pamela West collection 2' as he also makes wooden planters including wheelbarrows like this one. I used a hammered effect card base, some ribbon from my stash and embellished using my newly purchased dies. The ladybird and letters are Memory Box and the tag stamped with a Clearly Besotted sentiment is Poppystamps, as are the flowers which were finished with card candi centres.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

The Ribbon Girl challenge 'create a masculine project with an image'
Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets' (for the die cuts and last bit of ribbon)
Creative Inspiration challenge 'male creations'
Poppystamps challenge 'oh boy'
Crafty Sentiments Designs challenge 'anything goes'
Crafting For All Seasons challenge 'it's a boys thing'

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I hope all the dads out there have a very special day.

Mice Summer Days

It's another lovely day here in the East Midlands and I've managed to get the last pair of curtains washed and hung out on the line. I don't know about you but I love drying washing outside in the sun as it feels and smells so fresh (gosh, don't I sound a sad old person but at least I'm easily pleased!)

Anyway here's my card featuring one of those fabulous Joanna Sheen House Mouse decoupage sheets. The larger background paper is Dovecraft and the checked piece is from my snippets box. I used a LOTV stamp for the sentiment and the ribbon, flowers and pearls are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge 'all about holidays / anything goes'
Gruffies & Guests challenge 'lavender and lace / anything goes'
The Ribbon Girl card challenge 'animals'
Cute Card Thursday challenge 'summer colours'
Live & Love Crafts challenge 'in the garden'
Paper Creator's Crafts challenge 'anything goes'
Crafting From the Heart challenge 'anything goes'
Fussy and Fancy Friday challenge 'fun in the sun' (2nd entry)

Thanks for popping by today and I hope the rest of the week goes well for you. I'm off to have a bit off fun in the garden - or at least sit out and soak up the sun.

A Rose by any other name

What's in a name? that which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.

Okay so I admit to liking Shakespeare and when faced with a challenge theme of 'your favourite flower and why' I almost gave up immediately as I have so many favourites... until that line from 'Romeo and Juliet' came to mind. One thing I will not do is have flowers in the house as I would much rather see them growing just as they will outside - that is apart from the occasional rose I will take from my Dad's garden as the smell is so wonderful. For that reason alone I guess my favourite flower would have to be the rose.

The paper is a magazine freebie called 'Edwardian Diary of a Country Lady' and I cut and layered a second sheet on top, carefully lining up the design. I cut the Clearly Besotted stamp with QuicKutz nesting dies and  I used a Cheery Lynn die for the butterfly. The flowers, ribbon and gems are all from my stash. Finally I added a little touch of Stickles glitter to the butterfly and roses.

and this one shows the touch of glitter a little better

I shall enter this in the following challenges

As You Like It challenge 'favourite flower and why'
That's Crafty challenge 'all that glitters'
In The Pink challenge 'things with wings'
Creatalicious challenge 'butterflies'
Ladybug Crafts challenge 'use your dies'
Scrapy Land challenge 'anything goes using any brand of die Scrapy Land sells'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'anything goes' (my second entry'

and as I used snippets of card for my die cuts and a snippet of ribbon I'm heading over to play in Pixie's Snippets Playground where Miss Di challenges to use up our snippets.

Thanks for taking the time to pop by today and I hope you enjoy what's left of your weekend. I'm getting a bit behind with my visits but will hopefully catch up with you all over the next couple of days.

Shades of Summer

I was the very lucky winner of the Crafting Musketeers April challenge and as well as winning a fabulous prize from their sponsor JGD Crafts I was delighted to be asked to join them as a GDT for the June challenge. The theme of this challenge is Shades of Summer - which looking out of the window this morning I can only dream of.

I've used a decoupage image from my Joanna Sheen 'Faye Whittaker' cd which brings to mind my childhood summers. Living in the landlocked Midlands I remember the excitement of travelling to the seaside and the squeals of delight at the first glimpse of the sea and even if it rained it didn't dampen our spirits. I know that pennies were in short supply when I was little so the fact that my Mom and Dad made these holidays possible for me and my sisters only added to the magic. I still live in the Midlands and must admit I still get a big smile on my face when I see the sea but I no longer have a bucket and spade or a beach ball with me!

Anyway, back to my card - the papers are LOTV and Prima Doodle Deux and I used blue and white card for matting and added ribbon and card candi to finish.

So why not hop over to Crafting Musketeers for more details of the challenge and the chance to win a prize from this months sponsor The Hobby House.

I shall enter this card in the following challenges ~

As You Like It challenge 'favourite period and why'
Fussy and Fancy challenge 'fun in the sun'
Our Creative Corner challenge 'what makes you smile'
Noor Design UK challenge 'here comes summer'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'anything goes + option summery theme'
