Coming of Love - Vintage Verse

Hello to you all and I hope you're having a great weekend so far.

I have an old postcard from 1917 and I decided to try something different and make a card with it. I'm not too sure about how it worked out.... maybe it's because of the colours and probably would have looked better using sepia / cream / beige tones, or perhaps it needed lace and frills.

The postcard has a verse about love - so great for Valentines day. I'm also trying to keep to my resolution of using new purchases before putting them away (the Hummingbird die) and retrieving from the cupboard those things never used (the stamp). So here's my card and it would be great if you could leave me a comment to let me know what you think.

This is what I used
Postcard (postmarked 7 April 1917)
Stamp - The Floral Collection (came free with a magazine ages ago) coloured with Promarkers
Paper - Raspberry Road Designs
Dies - Marianne Creatables LR0147 birdcage (available from J & C Creations here),

Finished At Last

Hello, hope you are all well and to those of you in the UK I hope you're not too frozen.

Well as the title of this post suggests I have finally finished the card I was working on yesterday. I always admire the ability of those who can make 'fussy' cards as I call them as I can never seem to master the art of lace, ribbon and flowers... but after 2 days and a few 'botherations' and 'oh, sugar lumps' I have made a card which I am quite pleased with. Okay so it's not up there with the real 'frilly and fussy' but it does have a lace frill and flowers. The sentiment on the tag is handwritten in gold gel pen and the paper above the lace has been cut with a heart border punch but it doesn't show up too well in the photo.

Here's what I used
Image - Sugar Nellie 'Rosie' which is coloured with Promarkers and Sakura glitter pen
Papers - all from My Mind's Eye 'Lost & Found Two'
Dies - Marianne Creatables LR0180 doiley, LR0156 leaves, LR0254 tag, Marianne Craftables CR1211
Punches - Dovecraft heart border, Dovecraft daisy, (unknown brand) butterfly
Stash - lace, ribbon, pearls, gem, roses

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Charisma Cardz challenge 'Punch It - use 2 or more punches'
Paper Creator's Crafts challenge 'Love Is All Around'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Vintage'
The Ribbon Girl challenge 'Pink and Ivory'
The Sketchy challenge 'Karen's Sketch'

Everybody-Art challenge '3 Papers, 3 Flowers, 3 Punches'
Bearly Mine challenge 'Tic Tac Toe' (flowers, pearls, ribbon. doiley)

Thanks for stopping by to have a look at my card  and I'd love it if you could leave a comment.

And Here's One I Made Earlier

I have been making a card which I was going to enter in a challenge but unfortunately it's noe finished, so as the title of this posts says.... here's one I made earlier instead.

The image is from the Joanna Sheen 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' cd. I made a sentiment on the computer and the background paper was free with a magazine. To make the flower I used a mixture of bits from Marianne Creatables dies LR0156, LR0111 and LR0129.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Wednesdays Creative Inspirations challenge 'One For the Girls'
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'Die-cuts and Flowers'

Definitely Cold Outside

Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my blog today.

It looks pretty here with the snow but the cold is certainly bone chilling. I'm glad I don't have to venture out and even inside I've got the heating turned up and an extra jumper on. Hope the rest of you in the UK aren't suffering too much and to those you in warmer places - I'm jealous!!

I see that there are quite a few challenges with cold weather themes so here is another wintery christmas card. The image I've used is from the Christmas Cottage Delights Squeezee cd. Instead of making a squeeze card I cut out and layered up to make a decoupage. The paper and sentiment were free with a magazine so long ago that I can't remember who they are from.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Totally Gorjuss challenge 'Spotty'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Baby It's Cold Outside'
Bearly Mine challenge 'Anything Goes'
Deep Ocean challenge 'Anything But Square'

One Good Reason to Emigrate

My Daughter has her birthday in January and all through her life she complained because she hadn't been hatched durring the summer months. Anyway she solved the problem 4 years ago by moving to Australia and now she enjoys her birthday on the beach in the sunshine...

So when I saw this Saturated Canary image I knew it was perfect for her card. The backing papers are all from the Joanna Sheen 'Faye Whittaker Collection' cd and they are layered onto card which I colored with the same peach Promarker that I used for the bikini. I created a sentiment on the computer and then cut with Marianne Creatables LR0253 book die and added a couple of punched flowers. To finish off I added some ribbon and a charm from my stash to make the bookmark.

This is the sketch I followed

I shall enter this in the following challenges
The Sketchy challenge 'Sandy's Sketch'
Passion For Promarkers challenge 'Colour Theme - Peach and Blue'

A Cold, Frosty & Snowy Winter

Rather an apt title for my card today as snow is forecast over the next few days and it's certainly cold and frosty.

I've made a resolution this year to use any new crafty thing I buy at least once before it goes in the cupboard and so I have one new die-cut on this card. I made up this winter scene using Marianne Design products. The image is a Don and Daisy stamp which I coloured with Promarkers and the background paper I used for the sky is from the Scandinavian Christmas collecttion. I used Creatables dies LR0172 village (my new die), LR0136 tree and made a frame by using the leftover part from LR0111. I finished off by adding some Stickles and then some more Stickles !!

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Marianne Design challenge 'Winter'
Christmas at Sweet Stampin' challenge 'Cold and Frosty'
Dies to Die For challenge 'Celebration'
Stempelgarten challenge 'In the Snow'

Thanks for taking the time to drop by and I hope you have a good weekend

CAS on a Cold & Frosty Morning

Good morning to all you lovely people on this cold and frosty day and thanks for taking the time to drop by. I decided to have a look through some of my crafty bits and bobs and was quite ashamed when I found things I'd never used or hadn't used for absolutely ages, so they are now at the top of the pile of to do - that is of course unless I get side tracked or end up buying even more new goodies.

So the first of these is a brass embossing stencil from Dreamweaver which I dry embossed. I used glittery gel pens to colour the upraised lines and stickles for the snow. I went for a CAS design so just layered the image on some holographic card before mounting onto the hammered card base. It was a lot harder to photograph then it was to make and does look much better in 'real life'.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Allsorts challenge 'CAS'
The ABC challenge 'E for Embossing'
Without Words challenge 'Baby, It's Cold Outside'
Elke Kaart Een Feestje challenge 'Do Not use a cute stamp on your card or layout'

Divas By Design challenge 'Anything Goes'
Penny's Paper-Crafty challenge 'Anything Goes'
Cute Card Thursday challenge 'Beat the Blues'
Creative Card Crew challenge 'Snow and Ice'
Lexi's Creations challenge 'Anything Goes'

Well the sun has poked his head out so fingers crossed it warms up a little. Hope you have a good day whatever you may be doing.

Patti's Kiss Over at PCJ challenge

Hello to you all on this cold and frosty morning and a special hello to my new followers. It's so good to have you join me and I hope you enjoy your visits to my little blog.

My card today is for the new challenge over at Paper Crafting Journey. This week our sponsor is Elisabeth Bell and the theme is 'Anything Goes' so a great chance for you to link up your creations and be in with the chance of winning some fabulous EB digis.

For my card I used the oh so sweet Elisabeth Bell image called Patti's Kiss coloured with Promarkers and I dusted the background with chalks. The background paper is Prima Botanical Collection and I used Mariaane Creatable LR0200 to cut and emboss the corner. I framed the image with ovals which I also coloured with Promarkers and added pearls and ribbon from my stash and a heart charm from an old necklace. Finally the beautiful lace was in some candy which I received from Caz - thank you Caz.

It's A Girl

Firstly I'd like to wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year and hope that you had a wonderful christmas. I  must admit that I'm still trying to work out what day of the week it is and get back into some sort of routine !!

It's rather fitting that my first card of the new year is for a new baby girl who was born in December. I continued with the new theme and decided to try something different and make a wobble card which worked out in the end - but a mental note to myself that flowers overbalance the card !!

I used this sweet LOTV image coloured with Promarkers and the sentiment was done on the computer. The dies I used are Marianne Creatables LR0111 & LR0156 for the flower & leaves and 2 of LR0180 circles to layer the image onto. I coloured the edge of a paper doiley with the same pink Promarker and placed over the base card before attaching the image. Then I added a couple of punched butterflies and from my stash I used pink gems for the flower centres and finally 4 pink pearls to balance the weight !!

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Bearly Mine challenge 'Something Old and Something New' (old dies, new stamp, new baby)
Cute Card Thursday challenge 'Something New'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Anything Goes'
