Spots, Stripes and More

Hi everyone, I hope you're all keeping safe and well. I've been having a bit if a tidy up in the craft room and found Mojo hiding at the back of the cupboard which was lucky as I'd seen a few challenges that I wanted to join in with.

The papers I used for my first card are from a 12x12 inch pack that I bought at B&M some time ago, the mushroom fairy is a Mo Manning image coloured with my usual Promarkers and the little mushrooms are a Poppystamps die.

I made this for

Allsorts challenge 'gingham, stripes and dots'

Passion for Promarkers challenge 'spots and/or stripes'

Double D challenge 'begins with M'

I made my second card with dies from My Favourite Things and I embossed the background with a Couture Creations folder.

This is for

Unstampabelles 100th challenge 'wings and wind, twist predominately blue and white'

MFT Wednesday Sketch challenge

CAS on Friday challenge 'use a die'

Time Out challenge 'free'

My final card features a decoupage image from Joanna Sheen 'Faye Whittaker' cd, matted onto silver card and with a LOTV background paper.

This is for the Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge 'anything goes christmas, with option use some silver.

Hopefully Mojo will hang around a bit longer as I've got a lot of NBUS to play with! Thanks for popping by today and please keep safe and well in whatever corner of Blogland you live.

A Twofer Plus Another

I thought I really should make the effort and join in with Darnell's Twofer challenge this month where the theme is 'flowers'.

I really couldn't decide which of my many flower stamps or dies to use so thought the easiest option was to cut up and use some 'bloopers' that I'd kept from a previous stamping session with a Penny Black stamp called 'first waltz' - along with sentiments from Uniko stamps and snippets of coloured card.

Here's a closer look at the cards

I shall enter enter this in the following

Stamping Sensations challenge 'say it with flowers'

Butterfly challenge 'spin the butterfly wheel with Y'

As I used a snippet leftover from a Distress Oxide background for this I'm heading over to join the playmates at Pixie's Snippets Playground.

While sifting through my box of 'bloopers and stuff' I found a LOTV image which I'd already coloured so decided to make it up into a card for the Penny Black and More challenge where the theme is 'men and boys'

Needless to say Mojo was nowhere in sight (probably off sunbathing) so I had to play on my own and I'm not at all happy with any of these..... still I did make the effort to join in!

Absolutely gorgeous weather here today and we've got fans on everywhere trying to cool us down..... and it looks set to stay fine at least until the end of the month. I'm off to sit out in the garden with a cuppa and then I'll be round to say hello. Keep safe and thanks for popping by.

Born To Be Wild

I'm back today as guest designer for Penny Black Saturday challenge with a reminder for their current theme of  'anything goes with the option of inspired by a song'...... and as you may have guessed from the title of my post, the song I was inspired by was that classic by Steppenwolf  'Born to be Wild'

This fun Penny Black stamp is called 'Va Voom' and she definitely reminds me of a rebel who's just emerged from lockdown! Don't we all wish we could 'head out on the highway looking for adventure'? I know 'Hubby and I will be off for a nice drive and a short break away just as soon as it's safe to do so.... but in the meantime all I can do is dream!

I made the background using chalks for the sky, a PB stamp from the 'spread cheer' set for the hedge and a piece of torn paper for the road. The image was coloured with Promarkers before being fussy cut and then added to the background, and the sentiment is from the PB 'happy thoughts' set.

I shall enter this in the following

Fab 'n' Funky challenge 'hand coloured image

Ally's Angels challenge 'anything goes'

Southern Girls challenge 'anything goes'

and after a prompt from Bunny I'm also heading over to join in with the Cupcake Inspiration challenge where the theme is 'let's roll - things with wheels'

It would be great if you could pop over to the PBSC blog and check out the amazing inspiration from the DT... and maybe even join in with the challenge. Thanks so much for your visit today and I really appreciate all the lovely comments you leave.

Playdate with Mojo

Hi everyone, I hope you've had a good weekend... well as good as can be in these uncertain times. Mojo has totally ignored the lockdown and social distancing rules and came for a playdate with me! Together we managed to put together a trio of cards to join in with a few challenges.

The idea for my first card came at silly o'clock when the birds are saying good morning to each other and it was far too early to get up or even make a cuppa, so I lay quietly in bed forming an image in my head of what I wanted to make - do any of you do that? I used some dies from MFT 'birds of a feather' set and set about making some 'lavender'. First I tried my hand at heat embossing with clear powder on one little sprigs, but after dropping it several times and burning my fingers when the tweezers got too hot I decided to use a purple gel pen on the remaining two sprigs. The tiny hearts are from the same set and the sentiment is from MFT 'kangaroo crew'

I made this for the following challenges

MFT Birthday Project 'circles'

Double D 'lavenders, lilac, purple mood board'
Allsorts 'anything goes'

Just Us Girls 'trend week mini'
Watercooler Wednesday 'anything goes with a feminine twist'

Happy Little Stampers 'anything goes with dies'

The next card was inspired by a sketch and colour themes and I used one of my new stamps from a set called 'critter clan' by MFT which I cut with the matching die. The sentiment is from the same set.

I made this for the following

MFT Sketch challenge

MFT Color challenge

and as this was the first trot around the field for the horse I shall head over to Darnell's NBUS challenge

And finally a very quick CAS one layer card which I made for the CASology challenge where the theme is 'magical'. I stamped my Lavinia fairy straight onto the card blank, winked her wings, added a silver peel-off sentiment and then rubbed some pink Stickles through a stencil. Not sure if this is too CAS?

So that's it from me for today, I guess Mojo will now disappear off into self-isolation for a couple of weeks and leave me in limbo again... oh well I can always head off and do a bit more online shopping I suppose! Thanks for your visit and for taking the time to leave me a comment so that I know you've been. Take care and keep safe.

Layers and Snippets

Well what a week that was...... totally lost track of the days, spent most of my time on the laptop sorting out Tesco online grocery shopping for home delivery, then a bit of goodie shopping in Oz for my granddaughter, back to England for a few new dies and stamps, and finally - after a prompt from Miss Di over at the Playground - I just had to nip in to Joanna Sheen's craft shop.... I'm exhausted! Instead of aching feet from traipsing around shops it's now aching neck, arms and fingers!

I did manage to grab some time for a bit of crafting though as I saw some challenges I fancied joining in with. My card is made up totally from bits out of my snippets box and a YNS stamp 'one in a chameleon' coloured with Promarkers and cut with the matching die.... and of course I just had to give him (or is it her?) a googly eye.

I made this for the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground 'use snippets'

Your Next Stamp 'lots of layers'

Sunday Stamps 'getting sketchy'

Cute Card Thursday 'anything goes'

That's it from me today. Got a few ideas still rattling around in my head so if Mojo sticks around then I shall be back next week with some more. Thanks for popping by and please stay safe.

Year of the Cat

Hi everyone, I hope you're all keeping well and safe in your corner of Blogland.

I feel very honoured to have been invited to join the Penny Black Saturday challenge as guest designer this month. The challenge is always 'Anything goes' and the optional theme for May is 'Inspired by a song' - and as you may have guessed from the post title my inspiration came from the song by Al Stewart called 'Year of the Cat'..... and the tune is still rattling around in my head!
As a distraction from all that is going on around us at the moment I decided to make a bright and cheerful card with stamps from Penny Black sets 'hello friend' (the cat) and 'happy thoughts' (the sentiment). I used Promarkers for the image and also to colour the ribbon, and I added some rhinestones to finish it off.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~

Time Out 'photo inspiration'  I was inspired by the colours

Addicted To Stamps and More 'make your mark'

Watercooler Wednesday 'anything goes'

Passion For Promarkers 'animals'

I do hope you can take time to pop over to the PBSC and check out the fabulous inspiration from the design team.... and maybe even join in the fun. Thanks for taking the time to visit today, I really appreciate it.

Fairy and Handprints

Hi everyone, I hope you're all keeping safe and well. A little while ago I received a Lavinia Stamps fairy from Brenda over at Floral Fantasies. Anyone who knows her will have seen the amazing fairy scenes she makes with her stamps and I only wish I had the talent to create something half as good! But not to be put off I sat looking at the little fairy called 'Faith' and when I was looking for inspiration I came across the Creative challenge on Lavinia Stamps website with the theme of 'blue + silver'..... so that was the start of this card.

The background is coloured with Distress Inks and Distress Oxides and the fairy stamped in black Memento ink. I used nesting dies to make the card base and silver frame and added some little silver star embellishments to finish.

I wll enter this in the following challenges

Lavinia Stamps Creative challenge 'blue + silver'

Penny Black and More challenge 'anything goes'

NBUS challenge 'Darnell challenges us to get out our Never-Before-Used-Schtuff'

Now onto the 'Handprints' part of the post title. Whilst my little granddaughter is in lockdown and can't have her usual playdates or go to playgroup etc. her Mummy has been keeping her occupied with plenty of crafting fun and other activities. These are some handprint creations she made.... I especially love the elephant.

On that note I shall leave you and head out into the garden to enjoy more of this glorious sunshine. Take care of yourselves and thanks for popping by today.

In Search of Inspiration

Hi everyone, I hope you're all at home keeping safe and well. I noticed that in our area people are venturing out a lot more than they did in the first week of lockdown and our neighbour and her extended family have totally ignored all rules about staying home, visiting and social distancing since day 1 and are still carrying on as though they are immune from all that is happening in the world. Don't know about you but I just can't understand some people!

I have no idea where last week disappeared to and I've totally lost track when it comes to what day of the week it is. I seem to be spending a lot less time crafting and even less on the computer! The title of this post just about says it all as Mojo did the usual disappearing act and I was left scrambling about searching for inspiration and finally found a sketch which was the starting point for my card. The fun NBUS stamps are MFT 'festive flamingos' which I coloured with Promarkers and then had to fussy cut as I don't have the matching dies (remind me never to buy stamps without the dies again!) Following the sketch I made the banner from snippets of snowy paper for the sky, silver mirri card for the ice and a piece leftover from the MFT 'horizontal snowdrift' die for the snowy landscape. Then to finish off I added the sentiment from the same stamp set.

I'm heading over to the following challenges with this

MFT Wednesday Sketch challenge

Pixie's Snippets Playground 'use your snippets'

NBUS challenge 'break out your Never-Before-Used-Schtuff'

Next I've got a card made ready for my Aunt's (98th) birthday next month. I used a LOTV art pad image - well 3 of the same image - which I fussy cut and layered up to give it dimension which really does make it look so much nicer. Along with the last of some pretty paper (not sure which pack it's from), some pink card for matting. pearls and a sentiment, I finished the card and managed to use up some more of my older stash.

This is for

Allsorts challenge 'flowers and/or showers'

Well that's it from me for today.... I'm off to search for Mojo and hopefully some more inspiration. Thanks for coming to visit and I'll be round to visit you all in the next week - I promise. Take care and keep yourselves safe.

Camellias

Hi everyone, I hope this easter weekend finds you all safe and well. Mojo keeps playing hide and seek with me but at least I've found plenty of spring cleaning and housework to do to keep me occupied when my mind's not on crafting. I've also been very busy doing some online shopping from Australian shops (goodies for my granddaughter to help keep her amused and take her mind off not being able to go and play with her friends), as well as searching for those elusive home delivery / click & collect slots, oh and not to forget the odd search for online crafty bargains!

I was the very lucky winner at Stamping Sensations last month and the prize was a set of stamps and dies from a company called Thirsty Brush & Co. I admit to having not heard of them before but when the set called 'from the heart' arrived yesterday I just had to have a play. The lovely Camellias stamp and die-cut wonderfully and I used my usual Promarkers to colour them. Then I made up the card using a scrap of background paper and the negative from a die-cut scalloped circle. I've left this without a sentiment for the time being and will add something later as I plan on sending out a few cards to catch up with people just as soon as things calm down and it's safe to go out again and queue in the post office.

I shall enter this in the following

Allsorts challenge 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'

Penny Black and More challenge 'anything goes'

Time Out challenge 'inspired by words'

NBUS challenge 'use your NBUS'

Thanks for popping by today and for taking the time to leave me a comment. Look after yourselves and stay safe and healthy.

Snippets and More

I'm back already.... and with a trio, which were all made with snippets.

I used rainbow colours and all Uniko goodies on my first card - NBUS stencil 'broken lines' on the background, stamps from the 'flower power' sets and the spots are from the 'background builders round in circles' set.

This is for the following challenges

Uniko Studio challenge 'spots & stripes + additional twist use a stencil'

NBUS challenge 'use your NBUS'

Allsorts challenge 'something old. something new'

Stamping Sensations challenge 'somewhere over the rainbow'

TGIF Color challenge 'rainbow'

Next I made something a little different..... I was looking at a snippet of glitter paper, a unicorn and die-cut cloud left over from other projects, and the bits left from the snowdrift die I used in my last snippets make... then Mojo gave me a nudge and I had one of those rare moments of inspiration and made a fridge magnet. Luckily I'd just bought some sticky backed magnet sheets as I use them for storing my dies on.

This is heading over to

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use your snippets'

Country View challenge 'animal magic'

So while I was in a creative mood I decided to have a play with another Uniko stamp 'hello lovely' coloured with Promarkers. A snippet of paper and a piece of lace and another card made!

I made this for

Passion for Promarkers challenge 'lace and flowers'

.....and to finish with I thought you might like to see a photo of my Little Miss Cutie Pie playing in her tent with the caterpillars she made sat outside.... and yes that is her crafting mat on the floor in the background.

Thank you for popping by today and I hope wherever you are and whatever you're doing that you are safe and well
