A Snippet Surprise Blog Hop for Miss Di

Today is the start of a special event! Di's friend Darnell from across the pond has initiated a surprise Blog Hop to thank Di for the SEVEN years she has managed the Snippets Playground where we go to show off our snippets makes, enjoy bonfires, have hot toddies, jump rope, play on the Playground equipment, trade beads, horse-around in the tree house, ride bikes, play with Parsnip (and now Dudley), and generally have an amazing and fun time!

I first found my way over to Pixie's Snippets Playground back in November 2013 and was made so welcome by Miss Di and the all the others playing with their snippets. It's come to be the one challenge I try to join in with regularly - not only because I have a huge amount of snippets that need using up, but also because it is such a fun, friendly place. Over the years I've seen more Playmates appear and seen some brilliant creative ways to use up those snippets that we are all guilty of hoarding AND every challenge sees Miss Di at the gates of the Playground ready to welcome us and keep us in order. Not only does she give us such a fun place to meet up but is so generous and provides amazing prizes all out of her own pocket.

This is the wonderful lady, who I'm lucky enough to count among my blogging friends and to whom we owe thanks for providing us with a super place to gather with other Playmates from all around the globe.

You only need to add one snippet to be able to join in the fun but in Di's honour I challenged myself to make a card using ONLY snippets and this is what I came up with
I'm off to link my card up over on Darnell's Surprise Blog Hop and see what the others have made in honour of Miss Di, and also see what mischief they may be getting up to..... I did hear there may be a bit of a party going on behind the bike shed so hopefully I'll be able to partake in a glass or two before the place runs dry!

But before I go I just want to say a big Thank You as well to Jules who came up with the idea and started off the Snippets challenge before handing the Playground keys over to Miss Di seven years ago...... and also to the wonderful Darnell for organising this special surprise thank you blog hop.

Loves me, loves me not

It's been two weeks since we arrived home and yesterday was the first day I ventured into the craft room. I've been trying to get my brain into gear for some time now and finally managed to create a card for a couple or three challenges..... love (well it is coming up to valentine's day) - pearls or buttons (of course I had to go with pearls as they are my absolute favourite for adding a bit of class to any card, plus they come in so many colours and shape that you can always find the right one to use) - and finally snippets (I missed the first challenge of the year over at the Playground so I hope I don't get detention!)

So with the theme of young love... and I'm sure you all remember pulling the petals off daisies while chanting 'loves me, loves me not' in days long gone by... I created this card using Uniko stamps 'background blocks halftone' and 'flower power #7' and the sentiment from JOFY 13 stamp set. Then to finish off I added a couple of heart shaped pearls.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets'  The sentiment and daisies were stamped on snippets of white card

As You Like It challenge 'favourite pearls or buttons and why'

Uniko challenge 'anything goes + optional twist love'

Next up I've got a card made before christmas using an image from the House Mouse Decoupage cd and a background paper also from a cd (but as it was in a pile I'd printed off previously I don't remember which one). I used silver card for matting and finished of with the last bit of a gingham ribbon tied into a bow.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

CD Sunday challenge 'anything goes using a craft cd'

House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge 'anything goes + option buttons and/or bows'

I'm certainly not enjoying the cold weather we've come back to but at least we haven't had any snow and the sun is peeping through the window today. It seems ages ago now that I was sitting in the sunshine having granny cuddles..... and trying to cool down!  Skype is great for keeping in touch, but just not quite the same for trying to play hide and seek.... I (the phone) keep getting put in a box or drawer!

Thanks for popping by today and I hope you all enjoy the rest of the week.

Happy New Year

A very happy new year to you all...... a bit late I know but we only arrived back home on Wednesday and I'm still trying to adjust to English time! I hope you all had as great a christmas and new year as I did and the best present I had was being a granny 'for real' and seeing my little sweetie pie's face on christmas morning when she saw all the presents Santa had left her..... what a Magical moment!

I've not stepped foot in the craft room yet so here's a card I made before we went away. It's a decoupaged image from the Jayne Netley Mayhew cd teamed up with a background paper (probably a magazine freebie) and a peel-off sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

CD Sunday 'anything goes'

As You Like It 'anything goes'

And here's a photo of the scene just a couple of minutes away at the bottom of the street from my daughter's house where we were staying.

I will try to get myself organised and be round to catch up with you all over the next week... as soon as the brain starts functioning and I can work out what day of the week it is!
