Gesso and Stencils

Hi everyone and thanks to all of you who left such lovely comments on my first attempt at stamping with Aquamarkers.

I've another 'give it a go and see what happens' card to show you today and I've CASEd the same card as I did yesterday. This time I've used my new Penny Black 'intertwined' stencil and applied gesso through it onto black card. When the gesso dried I used Aquamarkers with water to colour it before matting onto silver mirricard and then onto the base card. The sentiment is a Clearly Besotted stamp and the butterfly is a Cheery Lynn die with a couple of gems added.

I've applied gesso through stencils before but never as the focal point and I'm not sure whether I like this card..... although maybe that's because of the black background as I don't find it an easy colour to work with.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Happy Little Stampes CASE challenge - and this is the card I CASEd

Country View challenge 'use a stencil'

Cuttlebug Mania challenge 'butterfly'

Love to Create challenge 'anything goes mixed media'

Mod Squad challenge 'April showers bring May flowers'

Simon Says Wednesday challenge 'stencil it'

and as I had to delve deep into my snippets box for the black card (told you I don't really do black) and also the little pieces of white card for the butterfly and sentiment, I shall also head over to see the playmates over at Pixie's Snippets Playground where the challenge is to use up your snippets.

  2. Another real stunner Andrea and I can almost feel the texture the gesso would have given it.

  3. Looks pretty good to me! I have to say that black is not a colour card I use much for a base...but sometimes we surprise ourselves and move out of our comfort zone!

  10. I think that this turned out very well. I have never used gesso, so I am not sure how easy it is to work with. I love your card and love the pink and black and silver. Thanks so much for playing along with us at The Mod Squad Challenge. Good luck, and hope to see you again.
