Fussy and Fancy with Snippets

Hi everyone and a big hello to my new followers. Hope you all had a great christmas. Ours was quiet and over very quickly... and it's New Years eve already.

I'm still having a job to motivate myself to do things but I have managed to make a card using a Sylvia Zet topper from the Hobby House and some snippets of paper. The tiny flowers are made with a Dovecraft daisy punch (and more snippets) and I think the die-cut is Memory Box (it was a freebie die-cut I got with some goodies I ordered ages ago). Finally from my stash I added the gems, ribbon and peel-off sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Pixie' Snippets Playground challenge 'use snippets' (my 2nd entry)
Winter Wonderland challenge 'fussy and fancy'  (my 3rd entry)

So that's it from me tonight - think I'll put my feet up and watch a film and hopefully manage to stay awake to see in the new year. I'd like to take this chance to thank you all for your support and encouragement and to wish you a very happy and prosperous new year.

Christmas Cheer

Just popping by with a quick post to show you that I'm really getting into the christmas 'spirit'. A bottle of wine is an ideal gift for most people I know and with the addition of a few homemade mulling spice bags gives it that personal touch. I decorated up a kraft box with some of my loose papers and a length of ribbon to hold 4 or 5 spice bags. What can be more traditional than a warm aromatic glass (or two) of mulled wine to warm you up on a cold winters day.

This is what I used for each spice bag ~
1 cinnamon stick
4 whole cloves
a small piece of nutmeg
a good sized piece of crystallized ginger

I use a couple of bags for a bottle of wine and add caster sugar and slices of orange. Slowly heat to simmering point without boiling, then allow to infuse. If you like you can add some freshly squeezed orange juice (I usually let people add their own). Another tip is to try it with honey instead of the sugar - hubby really enjoyed that.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Allsorts challenge 'last minute gifts'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'christmas / new year' my 3rd entry
Country View challenge 'nostalgic christmas' my 3rd entry
That's Crafty challenge 'anything goes' my 3rd entry

Well seeing as I made quite a few spice bags and it is rather chilly here I think I should break out a bottle of wine (just to check I got the ingredients right of course!)

The 'Nice' List

Gosh I certainly hope my name is on that list, don't you?

The decoupage image is another of those fabulous sheets from Joanna Sheens' Giordano christmas collection and those little puppies are so adorable, aren't they? The card is 8x8 inch and the paper was a magazine freebie. I printed the sentiment on the computer and used snippets of card and Tattered Lace dies to make the poinsettias and mistletoe. The ribbon. pearls (in the flower centres) and charm are all from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

This is a 60th birthday card I made using a LOTV stamp that I coloured with Promarkers. The sentiment was made using gold peel-offs and the gems, flowers and ribbon are from my stash.

Winter Wonderland

Only another week to go and the over-indulgence day will be upon us. Hope you're all prepared, but if not my motto is you can always try again next year.

Before I get on with my card I see that another shop is closing due to the new EU VAT rules -  this time it is Sylvia Zet and the Wee digi-stamps - but hopefully only temporarily. You can read about it on her blog here and also she is giving a 10% discount in case you want to add some more digis to your collection (which of course I did).

So onto my card - I decided to do something a bit different for me and have a play with stencilling. This is 'garden birch landscape' from Memory Box which I cut to a square and matted onto some blue card. I ripped a strip of card for the snow and the cute little bambi which I coloured with Promarkers is from Wild Rose Studio. A large amount of Stickles was addded to the tree branches and snowy ground and after adding the Tattered Lace snowflake with a gem centre I attached the 'winter scene' to a hammered card base.

There is a lot more glitter than shows in the photo and also the 'snow' is a lot whiter.

I shall enter this in the following challenges -
Stamping Sensations challenge 'winter wonderland'
Magnolia-licious challenge 'anything goes with a magnolia, Wee or Wild Rose Studio image'
Creative Card Crew challenge 'anything goes'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'christmas / new year'

Christmas With Love

I'm here today with a christmas card that I made for my Dad to give his sister. I really love making cards for her not only because my she is such a wonderful person but also because my Dad is 94 and my Auntie is 92 and I must admit I get a bit of a kick out of the fact that I'm still getting the opportunity to make this card.

I wanted to make something a bit more special so I headed off to my Joanna Sheen Giordano christmas collection cd which is full of the sweetest images and picked out one of the decoupage images to print off. I used an 8x8 inch card blank and the paper is a loose sheet which was a magazine freebie (so not sure who by). The sentiment was computer printed and cut with a Spellbinders Heirloom ornament die and for the poinsettia and mistletoe I used Tattered Lace dies and the snowflake sprig is from Memory Box. Finally from my stash I added some silver gems on the flowers and sprig and a bow to the ornament.

More Christmas Nostalgia

Well the days are certainly passing by quickly and christmas day will be here before we know it.
I've been busy making up some decoupage images from the Joanna Sheen Giordano christmas collection and the one I've used on this card reminds so much of the fabulous Santas' Grotto my mom used to take me to when I was a child. It was at the Co-op store and there was always a very long queue of children waiting to see a very 'real' Santa who was taking a bit of time off from his very busy work at the North Pole to check that the boys and girls had been good.
The journey through his Grotto was wonderful. It was a windy path and on each side were several of the most amazing scenes of elves working hard away at making toys and winter scenes with the reindeer. The figures were all mechanical and there were lights in the windows and music and sounds - it really was magical and you just wanted to stay there...

...but back to my card, the paper is from my pile of loose sheets and I just added a gold peel-off poinsettia and a sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

You're the Best

Just popping by with a quick post to show the card I made for Dads birthday. He really isn't a fussy card person so I used this fun Kenny K image with an added second resized and rotated giraffe and a sentiment before printing and colouring with Promarkers. Then all I did was add a piece of ribbon and attach to the card base.

Nostalgic Christmas

It's my Dads birthday today and he's a great 94 years young so I count myself a very lucky daughter to have him around and in such good shape too. He's still making all his knitted toys and scarves and as well as getting pleasure from his hobby he gives away what he makes to friends and family and also for fundraising so giving pleasure to others.

Anyway we were sitting this afternoon chatting about christmasses past and how things have changed. We never had long lists of things we wanted Santa to bring us - in fact if we went to visit him in his Grotto there would be no mention of expensive toys and we just promised to be good in the hope of waking up on christmas morning to the sight of brightly wrapped presents and the all important stocking containing apple, orange, nuts and chocolates etc. The kids of today would have such a shock and probably be quite disgusted if they were suddenly transported back in time and saw what was at the bottom of my bed each christmas, but I was so happy. I can remember so many of those christmas days as if it was only yesterday and the joy I felt the year I received a new doll with rooted hair and another year when I got a scooter and even when I was older (after Santa) and I had my first Timex wristwatch and a 'What Katy Did' book.

But onto my card which reminds me of my favourite christmas film 'Miracle on 34th Street' and no matter which version you watch sums up christmas and Santa and all the magic. The decoupage image is from the Joanna Sheen Giordano christmas collection and is a more 'original' style Father Christmas with his jolly face and the toys he is delivering. I kept to a CAS design and just added a peel-off sentiment.

And here I am back with my second post of the day, this time with a christmas cracker.

Bearly Mine Snippets

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good weekend. I put up the christmas tree yesterday and found one of those battery tealight candles in the box of decorations so thought I'd do a bit of snippeting.

I used a little plastic pot which had contained one of those delicious M&S deserts and a leftover strip of Bearly Mine Designs paper which I cut into triangles and arranged around the bottom. I stuck a piece of that cobwebby stuff around the inside of the pot and Stickled the rim, then I attached the plastic pot to a snowflake decoration.

If any of you haven't already heard Donna is having a 50% off sale before closing down the Bearly Mine Designs shop on 31st December so a chance to grab some beautiful papers at a bargain price.

40th Birthday

Just popping by this evening with a quick post to show you the card I made for my Sons 40th birthday. I must give credit to Pauline (aka Cotnob) who makes the most wonderful cards for men as I had a good look through her cards for inspiration before I came up with the design for this.

I embossed some tan/orange cardstock with an Embossalicious 'happy birthday' folder before matting onto some brown card and then onto an 8x8 inch card blank. The cute little owl stamps are from Clearly Besotted which I cut with the matching die. I die-cut the stars and added the peel off numbers and printed the sentiment on the computer.

Santa's Last Rudolph Visit of 2014

Hi everyone. hope you're having a good weekend.

It's the final Rudolph Day challenge of 2014 and as it is also the last time it will be hosted by Sarn I was determined to get the required 2 cards made in order to join in. I used decoupaged images from Joanna Sheen's Giordano christmas collection and kept the design very simple, just matting the decoupaged images onto card blanks and adding sentiments.

I will enter this in
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'the Big Guy Santa'

and here's the second card for the Rudolph Day challenge

So that's it from me - I'm off to make a few Poinsettias then an early night to try and catch up on some much needed sleep.

Mice and Sparkly

Hi everyone and thanks for dropping by. I completely lost track of what day it was today and have only just realised that one of the challenges I made this card for closes in four hours so I'm here with a quick post.

I used an 8x8 inch card blank and the fabulous decoupage image of the little meeces with their sparkly lights is from Joanna Sheen's House Mouse 'Deck the Halls' collection. The paper was a magazine freebie (can't remember which) and I matted some Coredinations cardstock onto gold mirricard. I added some red raffia, twine and 'sleigh' bells from my stash and finished it off with a computer made sentiment.

Sorry about the poor photo but the daylight had gone when I took this.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

House Mouse & Friends challenge 'add a little sparkle'

Hope you all have a fun weekend whatever you have planned. I need to get making some more christmas cards and start some christmas shopping.

Sparkling Red Christmas

Evening all, hope you are all keeping well and busy. I've had a really lazy day today as it's my 60th birthday so this is a christmas card that I made yesterday.

I used a LOTV stamp called 'teddy and penguin' which I coloured with Promarkers and a touch of Stickles and matted onto some red metallic card. The paper is from my pile of loose sheets (so not sure where from) and I embossed the white card with an Embossalicious 'petite dots' folder. I added ribbon, gems and a sentiment from my stash and used Tattered Lace dies to make the snowflake which I smothered in Stickles so it really sparkles when the light catches it.

Another batch of christmas cards

Gosh, I can't believe it's nearly 2 weeks since my last post - I don't know where the days are going to and christmas will be here before I even get the turkey bought at this rate!

I found an unopened pack of christmas wreath toppers in my stash which were perfect for another batch make of christmas cards with a matching box. I also had some smaller envelopes so cut some card blanks from A4 card to fit. The leftover pieces of card were embossed with a Die'sire holly folder and, along with some snippets of green papers, attached to the card blanks before adding the toppers and sentiments to finish. The box was made in the same way with embossed leftover bits also added to the sides.

Batch Making Christmas Cards

My inspiration for card making is still hiding away so when I made a CAS christmas card that I was pleased with I decided to make a batch of them - be warned this is rather a photo heavy post.

I love a white and red colour combo for christmas cards so grabbed a load of LOTV toppers (the pile is gradually getting smaller) which I die-cut and matted onto silver mirricard. I used white linen card to make the card bases, added some lovely red gingham ribbon and silver pearls and then the toppers.

and here's a photo of each card

Little Ducky

Evening all and thanks for dropping by.

I saw a challenge for a baby card and it prompted me to ink up a stamp I've had for some time and never used. It's a sweet little stamp from LOTV called 'little ducky' which I coloured with Promarkers. Again I went for a CAS style (been doing that a lot lately as I seem to be taking ages to do things and Mr Mojo is still in hiding) and used a hammered card base instead of papers. The card panel was embossed with a Die'sire petite dots folder and from my stash I added some lace and card candi. I used some Xcut circles to cut out the sentiment (a magazine freebie stamp) and then to finish I added a ribbon and tied the bow.

The lighting wasn't very good when I took this photo and I couldn't get the image colours to look right. It is much softer in real life and the card candi is the same pink as the ribbon.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Hope you all have a great weekend whatever you may get up to and fingers crossed the rain stays away.

Sugar Nellie Penguin

Hi everyone, I'm back today with another christmas card.

I've used a digistamp from Sugar Nellie called 'penguin party' which I coloured with Promarkers and added Stickles to the fur on the penguins hat. It's a pretty CAS design using leftover bits of paper, mirricard, glitter card and white card. The dies I used are Memory Box Lindeman snowflake, an X-cut star, X-cut circles and the white card was embossed with a Die'sire grand dots folder. Finally I added a sentiment from my stash.

Clearly Besotted 'Improvised' Christmas

Firstly I'd like to welcome my new followers and say how delighted I am that you have taken time to pop by see what I get up to.

The challenge over at Clearly Besotted this month is 'christmas' and as I don't have any of their christmas stamps I had to put my thinking cap on. I seem to have bought a good selection of the CB flowers and butterflies but nothing for the festive season. Then I remembered that on one shopping trip a stamp set called 'simply quilled' just fell into my basket (on a whim) so that's what I've used for my christmas card.

I (randomly) stamped two rows of the largest circles in red and green Memento inks, I embossed a couple of lines both below and above these and added a pearl to each circle. The 'happy' is a stamp from one of my CB flower sets and I added a silver peel-off 'xmas' to complete the sentiment. Finally a piece of lace tied around the top with a couple of 'sleigh bells' added to give it a nice jingly sound.

So this is my 'improvised' christmas card - I'm really glad I bought that stamp set as I can see it's going to be very useful and already have a couple more 'christmas' ideas in my head.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Winter Wonderland challenge 'lace and pearls'

Autumn Fairy

Hi everyone, hope you're enjoying the weekend. I'm just popping by with a card I made using LOTV 'cobweb fairy' - I reckon this stamp would be perfect for any time of year but also for halloween with the spider and cobweb. I decided to go for autumn colours using Promarkers and chalks for the background (although you can't see from the photo). I used some leftover spotty paper and a snippet of orange card, then added a couple of sunflowers and gems from my stash.

In the meantime I'd like to say a big thank you for your continued visits and lovely comments which are really appreciated.

Clean and Simple Santa

Well another weekend has come around and I think autumn has now arrived with a wet and dull day here today. It's also getting cooler so shall have to treat myself to some new warm winter clothes as none of my clothes fit me now. Anyway enough of my rambling on....

It seems ages since I last made a card using one of my Mo Manning digis so thought I'd get this fabulous Santa coloured up. A very CAS design using a card base with some leftover paper and a sentiment from my stash.

Red and White

Well I seem to be motivating myself to make cards again (and managing to blog them) but I must apologise for not getting round to visiting you as much as I should - I seem to be spending all day getting absolutely nothing done including the housework.

My card today is a very CAS design using a lovely rose stamp from Clearly Besotted's 'happy everything' set which I cut with the matching die. I really couldn't motivate myself to get the Promarkers out so I decided 'what the heck' and left it uncoloured. I used a leftover piece of red spotty paper, a bit of ribbon and some red gems to show off the 'white' rose and added a gold peel-off sentiment.

Parcel Mountain

Morning everyone, I'm here with a quick post and another christmas card.

I've used a sweet Nellie Snellen stamp called 'parcel mountain' which I coloured with Promarkers and matted onto a piece of gold mirri-card which I cut on one edge with a Marianne Design CR1273 die. The paper was a magazine freebie and the mistletoe die is also Marianne Design with 3 pearls added for the berries. To finish I added a sentiment and gold peel-off numbers from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges -

I Love Promarkers challenge 'include a nimber'
Crafty Sentiments Designs challenge ' bingo' (designer paper / die-cut / sentiment)

I told you it was a quick post so that's it from me today - I'm off to try and get myself motivated to do something useful!! Thanks for popping by and take care of yourselves.

Christmas Box

Evening all, hope you've had a great weekend.

I was looking through some magazine freebie christmas papers that I've had for ages and got the idea for some pretty simple cards. I made some some 6 inch card blanks from a4 card, trimmed the papers to fit, and I used Memory Box 'grand merry christmas' and Tattered Lace snowflake to die-cut from the leftover bits of white card. A few gems to finish and hey presto - 5 christmas cards and I also made a matching box to put them in.

Here's a closer look at the box....

The papers are Dovecraft 'Back to Basics' and the sentiment is LOTV. I added leftover snippets of ribbons and lace and the flowers and pearls are from my stash.

Gosh, I can't believe I've managed to make a card this morning along the lines of autumn. It was a case of digging through my stash and finding some papers (no idea where from) and then when I came to ink up my new Clearly Besotted stamps I realised I had no orange or yellow inks so my 'sunflower' is a bit softer than I intended. The sentiment is also Clearly Besotted as are the butterflies which were cut with the matching die.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Clearly Besotted challenge 'autrumn / halloween'
Bearly Mine Designs challenge ' autumn colours'
Penny Black and More challenge 'autumn colours'
Butterfly challenge 'butterfly in autumn colours'
Creative Inspirations challenge 'autumn clours'

My Mum's Craft Shop challenge 'dies or punches' (2nd entry)
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'things with wings' (2nd entry)
Simon Says wednesday challenge 'anything goes'
Let's Craft and Create challenge 'autumn'

Robins

I'm back again with a second post today this time with a christmas card.

The image is Stampendous 'winter birds' which I coloured up with Promarkers some time ago but never got around to using. This is one of my favourite stamps as it is such a traditional christmas image but with the robins wearing the woollen hats it gives it that little bit of 'fun' as well. I teamed it up with a Memory Box 'grand merry christmas' die-cut to make a very CAS card.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Stamping Sensations challenge 'things with wings'
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'things with wings'
Natalie and Amy's challenge ' things with wings'
Live & Love Crafts challenge 'things with wings'
As You Like It challenge 'favourite rubber stamp'
Time Out challenge 'double the joy'
ABC Christmas challenge 'S... for something festive'
My Mum's Craft Shop challenge 'dies or punches'
Without Words challenge 'it's a celebration'

So that's it from me today. Thanks for taking the time to drop by.

Dandelion Dreams

Hi all, hope you're having a good week so far. I'm still lacking inspiration but when I saw Darnell was having another NBUS challenge it spurred me on to dig out some of my unused crafty stuff. As I was one of the very lucky winners of her last challenge I'm only playing for fun this time, but there are still a couple of days left for you to join in and used your previously unused crafty stuff.

I bought this canvas last year and had no idea what to do with it so thought it time to either use it or bin it. I've never stamped or coloured canvas before so decided to play safe using chalks to colour the background and Memento black ink for the (also NBUS) Clearly Besotted stamps called 'Dandelion dreams'

I shall also enter this in the following challenges

My Craft Creations challenge 'anything goes'
Rhedd's Creative Spirit challenge 'altered art'
Simon Says Monday challenge 'stamps & stencils'

Candy Winner

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a great weekend. Sorry I'm a bit late posting the candy winner but I'm still trying to get my brain working properly and I'm losing all track of the days especially with it being a bank holiday here in the UK.

I put all the names in a paper bag and got hubby to pull one out and this is the winner

If you can contact me at  ka.je (at) hotmail.co.uk with your email addy I'll get the voucher sorted.

Thank you all for your get well wishes and after hubby had to call the paramedics again last week and having to be taken to A&E I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'm finally on the road to normality!!
On the plus side I've lost rather a lot of weight and rediscovered my waistline so will need to treat myself to some new clothes.... but on the downside I've gone completely off chocolate and still can't find Mr Mojo.

Take care and I hope you have a good week.

AWOL and a Candy Giveaway

This is a sticky post - please scroll down for newer posts

Hi everyone. Some of you may have noticed I've been missing from blogland for a few weeks - the reason is I've been rather poorly and also had a bad reaction to some medicines. It really has drained me of all energy but I did manage a walk around the green in front of our home today.

As for crafting - well my mojo made a hasty exit at the first sign of illness and I'm not sure when it's going to reappear. I will start catching up with visiting your blogs but I hope you'll understand if it takes me a little while.

In the meantime I have a little candy giveaway of a $15 voucher for The Paper Shelter

I'll leave it open for a couple of weeks and all you have to do to be in with a chance to win is leave me a comment on this post with your name. I have comment moderator set but I will check and publish regularly.

Thanks for popping by and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend

Penguin Christmas

Hi everyone, hope your week has gone well. My inspiration and motivation is still on sick leave and I can't find Mr Mojo anywhere.... so I decided that I should try and make a card to incorporate a few challenges.

Following a sketch and themes of christmas, penguins, embossing, twine and CAS design this is what I came up with. The image is one of my (many) LOTV toppers, the card is embossed with a Die'sire petite dots folder, twine and sentiment are from my stash. You wouldn't believe how long I sat with a vacant expression on my face before I actually began to make this card !!

I shall enter it in the following challenges
Lili of the Valley Monthly challenge 'christmas in August'
Sketch Saturday challenge 'sketch'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'anything goes  for christmas'
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge 'animal +/or bird'
ABC Christmas challenge 'P for penguins'
Creative Card Crew challenge 'embossing'
My Mum's Craft Shop challenge 'clean and simple'
Let's Craft and Create challenge 'ribbon or twine'

Thanks for popping by and if you'd like a chance to win my candy please check out the post at the top of my blog here

Mousey Frolics and a Candy Reminder

Firstly a reminder I have some candy posted at the top of my blog - just leave your name in the comments on that post - and secondly thank you for your best wishes. I really do appreciate you taking the time to leave a message and I will try and get around to you all soon.

I made a card just before I got poorly that was for the House Mouse challenge but didn't get around to posting it. This card is the total opposite of the theme for their current challenges but they also have the option of 'anything goes' so I shall enter with the option. I've also missed playing in the Snippets Playground and as I've used a snippet of pearlescent card for the die-cut swirl I shall head over for a quick visit.

I shall enter this in the following challenges ~
House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge 'theme or anything goes'
Pixie's Snippets Playground 'use snippets'
Crafty Catz challenge 'lazy days of summer'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'anything goes'
A Creative Romance challenge 'fun in the sun'
Bearly Mine challenge 'anything goes'

Right that's all from me for now, thanks for taking the time to drop by and for all your much appreciated comments. Hope you have a super week.
