A Christmas Star

Hello to you all and a special hello to my new followers, thanks for dropping by on this cold and windy day. I've got the dreaded flu germs and haven't felt like doing much for the past few days but I have managed to put together a christmas card today.

I've used another cute Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers and I decoupaged the little cherub. I added some sparkle with Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen on the wings and star but it hasn't shown up on the photo. Then I layered the image on some silver mirri card and then on to a Marianne Creatable LR0180 die. The background paper is from Bearly Mine Design and I used the same paper mounted on white card for the border and then wrapped a piece of white ribbon round it. I finished it off with a sentiment and silver gems from my stash.

This is the sketch I followed

Another Halloween card

Hi and thanks for taking the time to drop by to have a look at my card today.

I really loved the background papers from Bearly Mine Designs that I used for my first Halloween card so I decided to make another card using them. I did exactly the same for the background, cutting the centre out of the orange cobweb and layering it on to the purple paper. This time I used a Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers and stuck on with sticky pads. The dies I used were Marianne Creatables LR0157 and LR0111 for the corner bits and Memory Box swirly tree, which were all cut from black card. I finished it off with a couple of clipart bats

The photo is a bit weird because of the lighting, but I think it looks more spooky !!

Clean & Simple in Yellow & Black

Hi everyone, thanks for dropping by and I hope you all had a good weekend.

The card I made today is something a bit different for me so I will be very interested in any comments you may leave and what you think of my attempt at a CAS style.

I used a Lasting Impressions embossing stencil which I dry embossed onto a circle of white card and I coloured the flowers with Promarker pens lemon and summer sun. The black patterned paper is from the Paper Cellar layered onto a piece of card. I used Cheery Lynn die DL112 for the butterflies which again were coloured with the same Promarkers and finally I added a sentiment which I made on the computer.

Just had a quick look at this posting and I've noticed how much this resembles a poached egg.... Oops!!

This the sketch I followed from MMCS

A Marianne Christmas and My Great news

I was being a very good girl yesterday and put my energy into housework so never got around to checking my mail until late.. and when I did I couldn't believe it. I had an email from Wendy asking me if I'd like to join the design team at Paper Crafting Journey, so without any hesitation I replied....   err YES please. So I can't wait for my start date on 1st November and hope that you lovely people who pop by to visit me will also take the time to visit the challenge blog here.

Right on to my creation for today and I decided to have a go at making a Christmas decoration.
I started with a circle of white card and dry embossed some tiny snowflakes all over it. I die cut some trees with Marianne Creatables LR0136 and as I wanted a 3D effect I attached them with sticky pads. The cute image is a Marianne Designs Eline stamp coloured with Promarkers, cut out and again attached with sticky pads. I then cut a ring out of white card and as I haven't got any holly dies I added Marianne Creatables CR1216 around the edges to make a wreath. (I got the idea from Enfys at Going Buggy here). This wreath was then attached to the base circle with sticky pads and finished with a piece of mistletoe from Marianne Creatables LR0189, silver gem berries and red ribbbon.

B.. is for Bauble with Dimension

For my card today I've used a gorgous Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers and with a touch of Sakura sparkles pen. (Unfortunately the sparkles on the wings and halo don't show up on the photo)
I printed the image twice and cut out the little angel and bauble top which I then layered with sticky pads to give it a bit of depth and then placed it on silver card. Then I fixed this to the base card with sticky pads and I added a sentiment layered onto a piece of silver card and again fixed with sticky pads.
I used a Cheery Lynn sleigh border die cut in silver card which I cut up and layered 2 deep so that it stands off from the card. The background paper is from the Kate Knight Christmas Collection and the silver corner peel-off  and silver gems are from my stash.

I used this photo for inspiration

Christmas with stripes

I see so many cards posted on blogs using stripy or spotty papers and they look simply fabulous, but whenever I try to use them the cards look really terrible. So this time I decided to try a different approach.... instead of using more than one paper I went for a single striped background paper and kept it as simple as possible.

The paper I used is from a pad called 'Cosy Christmas Collection' which was free with a magazine and the image is one of the Lili of the Valley die-cuts. I added Memory Box Frostyville Border and Marriane Creatables LR0189 mistletoe die-cuts and the flowers, icicle and sentiment are from my stash. I'm pretty pleased with the finished result and maybe I'll start using stripes a bit more now.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Thanks for taking the time to visit and for any comments you leave...... I really appreciate it.

Autumn colours

I love the colours in Autumn with all the browns, oranges, reds, yellows and greens as well as all the other shades in between. Pity about the chill in the air, although you do warm up a bit sweeping up all those leaves.

So my card today has an autumn theme and follows a sketch. I used a Don and Daisy image from Marianne Designs which I coloured with Promarkers and layered onto a piece of brown card. The background papers are Prima Botanical Collection and I used a selection of Marianne Creatable dies LR 0157, LR0156, LR0189 for the flowers / foliage. The doily, ribbon, pearls and orange flowers are from my stash. I used chalks to distress the background paper and doily.

This is the sketch I followed from the Sketchy

Trick or Treat

Hello and thanks for dropping by to visit my little bit of Blogland and a special hello to my lovely followers.

I've never made a Halloween themed card before as I never send them or get asked to make one, but as so many challenges at the moment have this theme I thought I should have a go... especially as Donna at Bearly Mine Designs has some fabulous freebie papers that are just crying out to be used.

I printed both papers onto card and cut out the centre of the orange one to leave just the cobwebs as a border and then layered them both on to black base card. I hadn't got a Halloween Tilda but thought this one would be suitable for going out 'trick or treating'. I coloured her with Promarkers & Aqaumarkers and sat her on a cobweb with sticky pads. Finally I added a couple of clipart bats and used sticky pads for those as well.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Christmas Across the Miles

Well I've finally managed to stop imagining myself still lying on the beach and get myself into the mood to make a card.

I've used one of the cute Lili of the Valley die-cuts - great for when you just haven't got time to colour an image. The background paper is from Bearly Mine Designs and the sentiment is one I made on the computer. I used Memory Box Frostyville Border and Marianne Creatable LR0136 tree dies. Other bits from my stash were scraps of embossed card. a christmas decoration and some red gems.

Back to Reality.... plus news of some Fantastic Candy

Well after 3 weeks away in Thailand it's back down to earth for me. I can't believe that just a couple of days ago I was sat roasting on the beach and having to have a dip in the pool to cool down (or try to) Here are a couple of photos of a fantastic hotel in Hua Hin where we spent our last few days.

This is the view from the beach

and here's the view from the garden terrace looking down to the beach

It was wonderful to wake up to the sight of the sun and sea, then after a superb breakfast (eat as much as you want) it was just a few steps down onto the sandy beach. There were 2 swimming pools - one was salt water with a jacuzzi.  Now in case you think this would cost a fortune and I must have won the lottery I can tell you that this deluxe room with sea view and breakfast cost us a grand total of £50 a night for 2 people. Oh well, now back to reality and woolly jumpers!!

You'll want to check this out -
The other part of this post is to let you know about some REALLY FABULOUS MEGA candy from Donna at Bearly Mine Designs. The first candy is open to all her followers and contains 9 rubber stamps, 9 dies. ribbons, flowers and surprises. The second candy is an an Epson printer which is open to UK followers only.

The candy will run until 30th November and here is the link to find out more.
Well hopefully I'll get back into some routine in the next few days and shall be popping around to see you. Hope you all  have a great weekend xx
