Wings, Wings, Wings

Hello to you lovely people on yet another sunny day. Polka Doodles blog has an extra challenge to celebrate thir 3rd birthday with a really super prize so the card I've made today is for this challenge and also based on a sketch.

I've used a gorgous Lili of the Valley die-cut image for this which I layered on to my new Marianne Creatable LR0180 die (using the 2 larger dies). The pink background paper is from Raspberry Road Designs - but I'm not sure about the scrap of lilac as it's another of those scraps that I never threw out. The bird is cut with Marianne Creatable LR0137 and the 3 small butterflies with a punch. The 'Congrats to you' sentiment, 3 pearls and embroidery ribbon are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Polka Doodles Extra challenge 'Special birthday card incorporating 3' (I used a 'Congrats to you' sentiment, 3 butterflies and 3 pearls

Saturated Canary bookmark

Hi to you lovely people who have dropped by on this lovely sunny day - Yes another gorgous day here in the East Mids

Today I've made a bookmark. It's the first I've made since I left school (many years ago) as usually I just use old postcards, scraps of paper or anything else that comes to hand. Anyway Saturated Canary's challenge is to make a bookmark so I have.

I coloured the SC image with pencil crayons and used Marianne Creatable LR0111 die to cut and emboss it. I used Marianne Craftable CR1216 for the flower vine and Cheery Lynn DL112 for the butterfly. As it is a bookmark I needed to keep it quite flat for the book to shut so I just added 3 little gems to give it a bit of sparkle. I tried putting a piece of ribbon at the top but it didn't look right so in the end I stuck an envelope corner on the back so that it will slip over the corner of the page, or it can just be placed in between the pages.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Red, White and Blue

My second card of today is combining a few challenges including a sketch and colour scheme of red, white and blue. Here's the sketch from Willow Sketchie

I've kept it a very simple card with no fuss added. I've used a Tilda image coloured with pencil crayons and wrapped some gingham ribbon around the bottom. The red spotted paper is from Raspberry Road Designs and the blue is from my scrap box (can't remember what it is). I just added a silver peel off sentiment to finish off.

Just wish I lived near enough to the sea to be able to go for a paddle. Anyways thanks for taking the time to drop by and a big thank you to those of you who leave comments.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Willow Sketchie challenge 'Sketch and/or red, white and blue' (used both)
Just Magnolia challenge 'Gingham' (I used gingham ribbon)
Papertake Weekly challenge 'True Colours' (red, white and blue)

Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge 'Anything Goes For Kids'
Charisma Cardz challenge 'No Flowers Allowed'

Sunshine alert

What fantastic weather we're having in the East Mids - hope it's the same in your neck of the woods. It's so nice to wake up in the morning to the sun streaming in through the window.
Though I'm beginning to think all this sun has addled my brain a bit - you'll see what I mean when you look down at my first creation of the day. Although the photo shows it a bit mustardy whereas it is a definite bright orange / yellow in colour.

I've used a hammered texture card and drawn in the lined border and design in the left corner with a gold glitter gel pen. I used a Marianne Craftable CR1214 die and cut it into 2 pieces for two other corners. The butterfly is Marianne Creatable LR0115 die and the flowers are made with Marianne Creatable LR0156 die-cuts which I then placed onto some backing card and cut out.
I am a big fan of die-cuts and I love playing around with them to see how they can be used - the Craftable CR1214 is one of the most useful for frames and corners.
Th circles have been cut with the X-cut shape cutter system

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Marianne Design challenge 'Use Craftables' (I used CR1214 - cut up)

Blue Canary

Good afternoon to you lovely people who have dropped by. I'm feeling very contented today as firstly it's been another day without rain and secondly I was very lucky to win a prize over at The Crafty Pad challenge.

I managed to grab a bargain over at Saturated Canary last week as the shop was being emptied. I couldn't believe how quickly they were disappearing of the virtual shelf. It just shows how talented Krista Smith is and how much we love her images.

This is the first card I've made using this SC digi which I've coloured with pencil crayons. I've followed a blue monochromatic colour scheme with a background paper from Bearly Mine designs and a scrap of blue copier paper. The dies are Cheery Lynn DL112 butterfly and B117 flourish with the flower being made up from Marianne Creatables die LR0111 placed on top of couple of petals from my stash. I made a tag from a scrap of card and wrote a birthday greeting in a sparkly blue gel pen and the gems and ribbon are from my stash.

Who's eaten the grapes?

I nearly forgot to post this card and I'm only just making it in time for the Cute Card Thursday challenge.

I've used another of the House Mouse decoupage sheets from the 'Fruit and Nut' collection. These little mice are so gorgous and cheeky that I wanted to keep the card simple. I just used a background paper that I think was from a magazine and the sentiment that was part of the decoupage. It looks a bit plain in the photo but the layers of decoupage really make it look better.

Pink and Green

Wow - we're enjoying another sunny day and the washing has been drying on the line. I do love the smell of the clothes when they have dried outdoors .. they seem so much fresher.

My card today has a fresh outdoor feel to it as well. The challenge over at Totally Gorjuss is a colour scheme of pink and green, which is not what I would normally pick, so I have been through all my pink and green papers to find the ones that worked together best and I finally found the ones I liked. The paper with the tiny pink flowers is from Pink Petticoat Vintage Rose Collection, the green was in a magazine and the pink is ordinary copier paper. I coloured the Tilda Magnolia images with pencil crayons and used sticky pads to sit Tilda on the watering can. The butterfly is cut with Cheery Lynn die DL112 and I used flowers with button centres from my stash.

Thanks for dropping by and for the comments you leave. They are much appreciated.

Girly Pink Princess Tilda

What a glorious sunny & warm day we're having here in the East Midlands..... I hope you are all as lucky wherever you are. I'm just keeping fingers crossed that we'll be able to put away the wellies & umbrellas now.

For the card I made today I decided to use a Tilda image for a change. I coloured her with my trusty pencil crayons and used a Sakura pen to add a spot of glaze to the flowers in her hair. The background paper is Pink Petticoat Wild Blossoms collection and the pink paper is from my scrap box. I used Marianne Creatable die LR0157 for the flower spray, Cheery Lynn dies B117 fanciful flourish & D112 butterflies. The small butterfly is a punch and the lace, pearls & flowers are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Fly where your wings take you

Hi and thanks for dropping by. My card today is for a couple of challenge themes for shaped cards and also I wanted to try out an idea of making a silhouette card with die-cuts.

The die-cuts I used are Marianne Creatables LR0147 birdcage, LR0137 bird on branch & Craftables CR1216 flower vine. I dusted the card base roughlt with blue chalk. It hasn't photographed very well - the background is bluer and the die cuts are a lighter brown.

Flowers, butterflies & fairies

Well it's been a whole week since I last made a card.  My Dad was in hospital again for a few days so I was a bit tied up time wise and when I did take some time yesterday the old brain cells would not work!!! Anyway today I forced myself to make a card and this is what I eventually came up with.

I used the sketch from this weeks challenge over at Totally Gorjuss and then I used the themes from a few other challenges

The Lili of the valley image is coloured with pencil crayons and framed with 2 Marianne Craftables CR1214 die cuts. The paper is from Webster's Pages and I used chalk to colour the edges of the card & paper as well as the die cut frames. The lace and ribbon is from my stash - and as I hadn't got the right colour ribbon I used white coloured with chalks. Finally the butterflies are cut with the Cheery Lynn DL112 die.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Saturated Canary

I've seen quite a few gorgous cards with a Saturated Canary image just lately and as I've never tried colouring one I thought I'd have a go. I found this freebie here from the very talented Krista Smith at her Saturated Canary blog.

The background paper is from Webster's Pages. The dies I used are all Marianne Creatables, LR0142 for the corner, LR0137 for the bird - both of which I brushed lightly with Tim Holtz 'Tattered Rose' distressed ink - and LR0157 for the flower spray. The ribbons, lace, sentiment, gems and flowers are from my stash.

Wednesday, 2 May 2012

Hi, I hope you've all been enjoying better weather today as I have. As well as enjoying the sunshine I also managed to get a card made for 2 new challenges - a sketch and a theme of 'monchromatic'

The paper was with a magazine some time ago so I'm not sure who it's by and the image is Sarak Kay coloured with pencil crayons.  I used a border punch to make the paper lace border and small punches for the little butterflies and flowers. The ribbon, larger flowers and gems are from my stash.

April showers brings May flowers

Hello to you on this wet & chilly day. I was keeping my fingers crossed that May was going to bring us some nicer weather after the lovely day we had yesterday ... but I think we are going to have to wait a while longer. Still, at least I have a visit to the dentist to look forward to this afternoon!

This is a card I've made for a few flower themed challenges. I used the sketch below which also had a theme of 'April showers brings May flowers'

I used a House Mouse decoupage from the 'Spring is Mice' collection. The paper is from 'The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' paper stack, but as these are 6 x6 inches I had to cheat and join 2 together under the ribbon. I cut the flowers with Marianne Creatables LR0189 die and the corner from LR0143

I shall enter this in the following challenges
