Congratulations ..... it's your 90th birthday

This is a 90th birthday card I've just finished making for my Aunt. She loved the House Mouse card I gave her last year so I thought I would make her another this year.

I used an 8 inch square card with a couple of paper doileys behind the House Mouse decoupage - which is from the 'Spring is Mice' collection. The dies I used are Cheery Lynn B117 Fanciful Flourish and Marianne Creatables LR0111 for the flowers. I finished off with silver gems centres in the flowers and silver peel-off numbers.

As I hadn't used all the decoupage layers I decided to do something on the back of the card. I used a Prima mask with some pink chalk and then stuck on the spare layers and a silver peel off

This is the back of the card

Blue, black & white with cupcakes

Hello to you on this wet and windy Sunday. I've just checked the BBC weather and it's forecast sunshine for tomorrow so I'm keeping fingers & toes crossed !!

I decided I should have a go at combining another colour challenge with a sketch and a theme. Well it is supposed to be a challenge & there aren't enough hours in the day to make separate cards for each one. So this is what I came up with.

The colour scheme is 'blue, black & white' and the themes are 'candy & cupcakes' and 'ribbon' The sketch is from Lili's Little Fairies

The background paper is from a Paper Cellar stack and the Lili of the Valley image is coloured with pencil crayons. The black card, ribbon and pearls are from my stash and the flowers I made from some white & silver gift wrap paper using Marianne Creatables LR0111 die.

Baby (Bird) Days

The second card is based on the theme of 'Baby Days'. I decided that birds have 'baby' days too so I chose this image from the Joanna Sheen 'The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' cd

I followed a colour scheme of Rose Pink, Kraft & White and the following sketch

The background paper is from 'The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' paper stack which I got free with a magazine some time ago and the others are from my scrap box. I used Marianne Creatables LR0161 to cut the lace die and finished off with a couple of pink pearls.

I couldn't get the correct lighting to take the photo and it isn't quite as dark as it appears here

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Hi to those of you who take the time to drop by on this awful wet day.

I've got a couple of cards to post today. The first is for a 'Once Upon a Time' theme so I have chosen to use this Lily of the Valley image as it brings to mind the other story of 'Alice' by Lewis Carroll called 'Through the Looking Glass' and I followed sketch 87 from 'Sunday Sketch and Stamp'

The background paper is Bearly Mine Designs and the other papers are from my scrap box. I used Marianne Creatable die LR0111 for the flourish and a Dovecraft border punch to edge the white card. Then I just added a length of ribbon & some pink pearls.

Spring with decoupage & die-cuts

Today I've made a card for Marianne Designs challenge theme of Spring. I got to play with my new dies and try out some different ideas as I've now got one that cuts and embosses the card edge which I think is great.
The decoupage is Marianne Designs 'Ducks' and the dies I used are Marianne Creatables LR0202, LR0180 & LR0157. I finished it off with a gold peel-off sentiment.

This is for the Marianne Designs challenge 'Spring card or creation'

Shabby Chic

Hello and thanks for visiting my blog today.

I don't know why but this card took me quite a while to put together - I kept changing my mind about what dies to use and the colours. Anyways I finally got it finished.
I used this sketch to work from

I rubbed the edge of the base card with distress ink, coloured the Lili of the Valley image with pencil crayons and the paper is from Webster's Pages. The dies I finally settled on were Marianne Creatables circlet LR0152, lace LR0161, leaves LR0156 and flowers LR0111. I added the sentiment, ribbon bow, a couple of pink pearls and (a first time for me) a couple of pearl headed pins. I didn't have any idea how to stick the pins so eventually came up with the idea of wrapping some double sided tape round the pin and placing them on the card behind the flowers. They have stuck but I think I'm going to have to find a better way - so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

Think pink, with buttons & stitches

For my second card I followed a sketch, a pink theme and had to incorporate stitching (fake or real) & buttons.

The background paper is Pink Petticoat 'Wild Blossoms' collection and the decoupage is from my Forever Friends cd. The ribbon is remnants from my stash & the buttons recycled from some old clothing (I knew they would come in useful one day !!)  I used fake stitching on the scrap of pink paper and finished the card off with the chipboard sentiment. This is the first time I've put buttons on a card & I'm kicking myself now for not pinching all the lovely old & unusual buttons my mom had before they were thrown away.

Orange, Pink & Aqua

Hello & thanks for dropping by.

I've a couple of cards today to post today and the first is using a colour theme of orange, pink and aqua. I've used a Lili of the Valley image keeping the colours to pink & orange as much as possible. The background paper was from a magazine and I think it was Polka Doodles. I used aqua card  to cut an oblong & die-cut corner - using Marianne Creatables LR0143. The ribbon was strips from my stash & I finished off with 3 pink pearls. The aqua looks more blue in the photo but it is almost the same colour as the ribbon.

Swirls, Pearls & Diamonds

I think this must be my lucky week as I've wonn another challenge - the second was for the little gift bag I made for the Marianne Designs challenge. They are now offering 2 lovely prizes for each fortnightly challenge and the new theme is a Spring card or creation.

Now on to the card I've made today and again I've made to incorporate 3 challenges.

The backing paper is from Bearly Mine Designs and I've used a Lili of the Valley image coloured with  pencil crayons. I used Marianne Creatables die LR0111 to make the flowers with 'diamond' jewel centres and LR0143 for the corner die. The piece of card is embossed with swirls and the card is finished off with 3 pearls and a sentiment.

I was looking at the Just Inklined website and found this gorgous freebie here called the 'King of Siam' I'd beein trying to think of something to do for the Totally Gorjuss  'Bling' challenge and decided this image was just great for the subtle bling-a-delic method. The paper is from a Paper Cellar stack and I used sticky pads to raise the image slightly off the card.. The die cut is Marianne Creatables LR0152 with a sentiment and small bow placed on top. Finally silver gems for the bling.

Whoopsi Daisy

Wow, fourth post in one day - must be all the caffeine I've been drinking !!

This is my last card of the day and I've made it to combine five challenges. First off I decided I wanted to colour the Whoopsi Daisy freebie image I'd downloaded and decided that I'd incorporate the sketch and colour combination I'd seen, So then it was some paper piecing and add a charm and there we have it.
This is the sketch I followed

The papers were all free with magazines, the flowers & blue gems from my stash and the charm was with a brass embossing stencil that I never use. The yellow paper isn't as bright as it looks in the photo.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Someone Special

I couldn't believe it when I checked the Joanna Sheen new challenge theme yesterday - it was 'Someone Special' and I'd just finished making a card for my Dad to give his (younger) Sister for her 90th birthday. So this is the card I shall be entering in this challenge.

The decoupage and matching backing papers are from Joanna Sheens  'The Jayne Netley Mayhew Collection part 2' cd. There are a lot of layers to this image which gives the card a wonderful depth.

I added gold sticky corners and numbers. The ribbon I found in a sewing box at my Dads house so I was able to add a little bit of something which had belonged to my Mom.

The inside was decorated with more of the matching backing paper.

And finally the back - decorated with the leftover paper edged with a gold calligrapher pen and gold sticky butterflies.

There are some cards that you really enjoy making and this was definitely one of them.

I shall enter this in the Joanna Sheen challenge 'Someone Special'

Marianne Bag

This is the first bag I've had a go at making. I was a bit fingers and thumbs when glueing but luckily nothing has dropped off !
This is the template I used from Marianne Design challenge blog

The image is Marianne Snoesjes coloured with pencil crayons. I dusted the bag and the edge of the oval with chalk. The die-cuts on the front are from Marianne Creatables LR0111 & LR0156 and on the back are LR0111 & LR0189. I just finished it with a tiny bow on the back and organza ribbon for the handles.

Birthday Girl

Hi and thanks for dropping by - It's really nice to read any comments you may leave.

My first card today is a Lili of the Valley image coloured with pencil crayons. The circle was edged with chalks and layered on a doiley. The background paper is from Bearly Mine Designs and I finished the card off with flowers and ribbon from my stash.

Spring Flowers and flying mice

I'm actually beginning to get back into a routine of sorts and have another card to post.
This is another of the adorable House Mouse 'Spring is Mice' decoupage sheets. This time I decided to have a go at glueing the layers. It worked, but doesn't look as effective as when I use sticky pads. The flowered paper is some I had in a box - I think it may be the 'Honey & Hugs' I had free with a magazine some time ago - and the flowers were cut out  & punched from scraps of paper.

I shall enter this in the Cute Card Thursday challenge 'Spring Flowers!'

Tootie Fruitie bear

I hope your Friday 13th was okay. Mine was good as my Dad was discharged from hospital after an 11 day stay. He's already checked on his greenhouse and luckily I haven't killed off any of his plants - I even managed to pot up the 36 Chrysanthemums that arrived in the post the day after they rushed him to hospital.

Anyway, on to this post. I decided to make this card with 3 challenges in mind - firstly a sketch, secondly fruit and thirdly animals. This is the sketch I used

The cherry paper is from Bearly Mine Designs and the spotty paper is Raspberry Road Designs 'Summer Goodness' paper stack which I just got free with a magazine. The spotty paper was layered onto white card which I'd cut with a Dovecraft border punch. The frame with butterflies is from my Daisy and Dandelion cd & the decoupaged teddy with his cherry topped cake is from the Forever Friends cd.

Forever Friends sketch

Here's the second card of the day - this time using a sketch from 'Forever Friends' fortnightly challenge

The circle was cut from a Pink Petticoat 'Wild Blossoms' collection paper and the striped paper rectangle was a scrap I'd saved so I'm not sure where it came from. I mounted the Forever Friends decoupage on a Marianne Creatables LR0129 die cut which I raised up from the card with sticky pads. I finished it with silver gems & silver stickies.

Totally Gorjuss Sketch

What a week it's been - with easter and hospital visiting I've been a bit busy and not had chance to do any posting.

I'm back now with a couple of cards from challenge sketches and this is the first from 'Totally Gorjuss'

I've used a Sarak Kay image coloured with pencil crayons and dusted the edge of the oval with chalks. The paper is a freebie from Bearly Mine Designs here and the rest is from my stash

Spring lambs and white rabbits

I've had some 'Honey and Hugs' paper for quite some time - it was free with a magazine - so I decided that if I was going to hoard it any longer that I should have a go at making a card with it.
I used a Lili of the Valley image and added a few bits from my stash choosing yellow to break up the pinkness. I must admit that I'm not too keen on the finished card.

It's a mans world

The Joanna Sheen challenge is now fortnightly and the theme this time is "It's a Mans World". I'm not at all keen on making mens cards but luckily I only have to make the occasional one.

For this card I've kept it plain and simple (no offence to any men out there !!) I used a decoupage image from the Joanna Sheen 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady'. There are some really beautiful images on this CD. The paper and ribbon are from my stash and I raised the sentiment on sticky pads.

Have a Mice Easter

Firstly let me thank you for dropping by and the comments you leave.

This is the only Easter card I've made as everyone I know would rather have chocolate eggs - including me !!
It is of course a Joanna Sheen House-Mouse Designs decoupage from the 'Spring is Mice' set.
The paper was out of a magazine and I made the flowers with Marianne Creatables die LR0111 with a couple of red gems in the centres.  It was finished with a butterfly sticker and the sentiment which was part of the decoupage.

I shall enter this in the Cute Card Thursday challenge 'Happy Easter'
and also Crafter's Companion Monthly challenge 'Four Legged Friends'
