Finally... the Last Christmas Card

Well here it is just 3 days to go and I've finished my christmas cards - breathing a big sigh of relief!!

For this I've used the Little Claire 'birdhouse garden' stamp coloured up with Promarkers and touches of white Sakura pen for the 'snow'. I edged the image with gold caligrapher pen and used sticky pads to stick it to the card. The background paper is Raspberry Road Designs 'christmas collection' and I used Mariiane Creatables LR0137 to cut the bird on the branch. Then just a gold peel-off sentiment to finish.

I'm afraid the photo is a bit poor as the light is not so good here today.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Penny Black and More challenge 'It's Your Choice'
Totally Gorjuss challenge 'Easy Does It'
The Paper Shelter challenge 'Anything Goes'

Cocoa & Cookies Santa and a new challenge at Paper Crafting Journey

Today sees the start of another challenge over at Paper Crafting Journey which will last 3 weeks and has everyones favourite theme of 'Anything Goes'. We also have a new sponsor in the form of Rick St Dennis who is offering 2 lucky winner 3 digis. If you haven't already seen his work you don't know what you're missing.

I was given the choice of a digi to use for this challenge and I really was spoilt for choice but eventually I settled for 'cocoa and cookies Santa' as it was just the image I needed for the christmas card I was making for my daughter & her boyfriend. I used Promarkers to colour it up and added Stickes to the 'fur' on Santa's suit. I know it doesn't really show up in the photo but I used Sakura pens to add glaze to the holly sprig in Santa's hat and glitter to the top of the frothy drink. The background papers are Forever Friends Retro Collection and Jennifer Ellory Berry Merry and I layered the image onto gold card. The dies I used are Marianne Creatables LR0137 bird, LR0136 tree, LR0189 mistletoe and Memory Box Frostyville Border. The sentiment is a LOTV grunge stamp and the pearls and gems are from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Christmas at Sweet Stampin' challenge 'Anything Goes'
Bunny Zoe's Crafts challenge 'Celebration'
Stamp and Create challenge 'Sparkly Christmas'

Deck the Halls

Hello to those of you who have taken the time to drop by at this very busy time of year.

Oh Christmas Tree

Is it me or have they missed out a few days this December?  I can't believe that this time next week I'll be sat here not wanting to see another mince pie or sausage roll.

My post today is another christmas card and I must admit I will be glad when they're all done. I've used another of my decoupage sheets from the Joanna Sheen House Mouse 'Wishes For Christmas' set. The paper is another freebie sheet from last years magazines and I added a strip of ribbon with a couple of  'sleigh bells' sewn to it so that you get a nice jingle when you open the card.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Joanna Sheen challenge 'With Love at Christmas'
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Oh Christmas Tree'
Allsorts challenge 'Oh Christmas Tree'

Thanks for popping by and I hope you'll come back again

Just Resting My Eyes

Well here's my second card of the day and this time it's a birthday card I made for my dad on his 92nd birthday last week. He doesn't really appreciate cards so they only manage a couple of hours on the shelf (if they even get there) and then they are straight in the bin! Anyways this is the card I made using  a stamp from Ladybug Crafts Ink called 'I'm Not Asleep Wrinkley' which was so apt, because for as long as I can remember Dad has never 'been asleep' but 'only resting his eyes' insisting he heard every word we said about him!!
I coloured the image with Promarkers and then layered it onto a piece of brown card and then straight onto a hammered effect base card. The sentiment was made on the computer. So a very quick make card and yes it did end up in the bin the next day!!

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Passion For Promarkers challenge 'Include the Word Happy in the Sentiment'
I Love Promarkers challenge 'One For The Boys,
Willow Sketchie challenge 'Quick makes or Sketch' (I chose the quick make)

Thanks for dropping by today and I hope you liked my creations xx

Frosty Christmas

Hello to you all on yet another cold and frosty day. Hope all your christmas preparations are going to plan and you're getting in the festive mood.

My card today is following the frosty theme. I've used a Mo Manning snowman which I've coloured with Promarkers. The background paper is another of those freebies that came with a magazine last year and the sentiment is a LOTV grunge stamp. I used Memory Box Frostyville Border and Marianne Creatables LR0136 christmas tree dies and a small snowflake punch and then I added some stickles to the snowman and snowflakes.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Dies To Die For challenge 'Christmas'
By The Cute And Girly challenge 'Red, White and Blue'
Mo Manning DP2 challenge 'D is for..' (die-cuts.... or it could be damn cold weather!!)

Santa Mouse

Here's my second card for today.

I've used another of the fabulous Joanna Sheen House Mouse decoupage sheets from the 'Wishes for Christmas' collection. Again the background paper is old and I don't remember any details other than it was free with a magazine last year.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
House Mouse & Friends challenge 'Let It Snow'

Cute Card Thursday challenge 'Red and Green'
Divas By Design challenge 'Use Some Red'

A forever Friends Christmas

Hello to you all. I 'd planned on getting lots done today, but you know those days wheen you wake up and you just know that all your good intentions aren't going to happen... well today is one of those for me. I'm blaming this freezing cold weather for my lack of movement and the old joints locking up !!

Still, on with my first card. This was a very quick make using freebies from last years magazines. The paper is Forever Friends and the sentiment I think is Nitwits but I'm not positive about that.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Let it Snowman

Hello to you all on this very very chilly, but dry winters day.

I never managed to get back with my second card yesterday, so here it is now. The snowmen image I've used is in the shaped cards section of Joanna Sheen Giordano Christmas Creations cd. I've used it as a decoupage and made an easel style card by folding an A4 aheet of white card. The trim and sentiment I used on the base came free with a magazine and is possibly Nitwits - but don't quote me on that - and finally I added some silver peel-offs.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Scraphouse challenge 'White Christmas'
Challenge Up Your Life challenge '1st Snow'
Crafty Sentiments Designs challenge 'Snowmen or Ladies'
Divas By Design challenge 'let It Snow'
Charisma Cardz challenge 'Christmas'

Creatalicious challenge 'Winter' (my 2nd entry)
Everybody-Art challenge 'Christmas' (my 2nd entry)
Sparkles Monthly challenge 'Christmas Is Coming' (my 3rd entry)
Ladybug Crafts challenge 'Christmas and/or Winter' (my 2nd entry)

Now I have to decide what I shall do for the rest of the day as I have 3 choices. Firstly do all the housework that's piling up, second go shopping, or third get crafting. Now how guilty am I feeling about that layer of dust covering everything and those chrimbo pressies still to be bought?

Anyways, thanks for dropping by and for the lovely comments you leave me. I really do appreciate them xx

Hello to you all and thanks for dropping in today. I hope all is well in your corner of the world wherever that may be and that you're looking forward to christmas.

I've got yet another House Mouse christmas card to show you today. This is a decoupage sheet from the 'Wishes for Christmas' collection. I know decoupage can be a bit fiddly but these little mice certainly are worth the trouble they can cause. Not a Christmas Card !

Well it's the 1st December, I've got the advent calendar out and now I can officially begin to panic. I've really got to get a move on and make a card for my daughter as well as buy her present ready to post on the 5th December (last posting date to Australia). I hope you are all a lot more organised than I am.

My card today is another Joanna Sheen House Mouse decoupage and is from the Food and Drink 2 collection. The background paper is from a pile I've got so I'm not sure where it's from, the die-cut swirls are marianne Creatables LR0111 and the butterfly is from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges

Tis the Season... of Mince Pies

Hello to you all and a big thank you for taking the time to drop by at this busy time.

Today I have a very quick christmas card make. I was sorting through some papers and sentiments which came free with magazines last year and found this Forever Friends paper and I think what may be a Nitwits sentiment. Now to me mince pies are a big part of christmas and I can remember my Mom busy in the kitchen baking them every year on christmas eve, so when I was looking through my Docrafts Forever Friends cd and came across this decoupage I just had to make this card. The only other thing I added were a couple of silver peel-off stars on the sentiment.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Winter Wonderland challenge 'Food, Glorious Food'
Totally Gorjuss challenge 'Don't Be Square'
That Craft Place challenge 'No Squares Allowed'

Birthday at Christmastime and my Guest Designer spot

A couple of weeks ago I was honoured to be picked as 1st place choice over at Delightful Challenges and so was given the opportunity to be a Guest Designer on their main blog Digital Delights by Louby Loo.

I was given the choice of a digi stamp to work with and picked this one called 'Tiered Cake' as I could see that it would work in so many ways.... birthday, anniversary, wedding, christmas and just because we love cake. I decided to go for 'Birthday at Christmastime' just to be a bit different and hopefully give a bit of inspiration for those times you want to send one card to fit two occasions.
The papers are Kaisercraft and Raspberry Road Designs and although they are both from christmas collections the designs will suit any occasion. I used Promarkers to colour the image and followed through with traditional christmas red, white and green for the 'icing' on the cake. There is some Sakura clear glaze on the red and glitter pen on the swirls but it doesn't show up in the photo. The flower is made by paper pleating a scrap of the spotty paper and using Marianne dies LR0129 & LR0156 for the base and leaves. Finally I added a sentiment which I made on the computer.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
Simon Says Stamp challenge 'Dawny's Sketch'
Papertake Weekly challenge 'Sketchie Free For All' (I chose no 47)
I Love Promarkers challenge 'Anything Goes'
Ooh La La challenge 'Seeing Spots and Dots'

Thanks for dropping by today

Hark, the Herald Angels Sing

Firstly let me say sorry for not having been to visit so much recently. It's that time of the year when I realise I've left everything until last minute and so I've been a bit busy of late.

Here's yet another christmas card - are we getting fed up of making them yet?

I followed a sketch for this one and kept it a flat design for posting. The image is LOTV coloured with Promarkers and the background papers are from Kaisercraft and Raspberry Road Designs. I added sparkle with a Sakura glitter pen and Stickles but unfortunately the photos don't show just how much it really does sparkle. The lace, silver gems and sentiment are all from my stash.

I shall enter this in the following challenges
I Love Promarkers challenge 'Singing and/or Dancing'

Krafty Christmas

Hello to you all and hope all is well in your corner of the world. Well the christmas cards are getting made but I still haven't started buying any pressies yet, but no panic as we are still in November!!!

Looking through the challenges I found a couple that would get me trying something new... the first was to colour on kraft and as I am a relative newbie using Promarkers I thought okay give it a go and see what happens... the second was paper pleating which I have never done before. So this is the resulting crimbo card. I used a stamp from Little Claire Designs called Birdhouse Garland from the Garden Collection as I thought it best to keep things pretty simple for a first attempt. I had tried the colours out on white card first but when I used them on the kraft they looked duller so I added some red stickles to liven it up. The sentiment is a LOTV stamp and the background papers are from Kaisercraft and Berry Merry by Jennifer Ellory which I also used for paper pleating a small flower. I used a brad, ribbon. pearls and a gold peel-off corner from my stash to finish it off.

I will be doing a lot more of the paper pleating but not sure if I will attempt the colouring on kraft again!!

This is the sketch I followed

I used Memory Box Frostyville Border and Swirly tree dies cut in white card and Marianne Creatable LR0129 in silver with a silver gem in the centre. Christmas Polar Bears

Hello to you all and a special hello to my new follower. Thanks for taking the time to look at my creations.

Today it's another christmas card and this one is a CAS design. The image is one from a very old cd which I can't bear to part with called Decadry Express Christmas and it's the first card making cd I ever bought (designed to work with Windows 98 up to XP!!) I printed a couple of images so that I could make a simple decoupage and then I layered this onto some holographic blue card before sticking onto the base card. Then all that was needed were some silver peel-off corners and a sentiment.

Wrapping the Christmas Pressies

Well yesterday I had a very good day.... I visited a Hobbycraft store and came back with another 24 Promarkers and 3 small bottles of Stickles. I've never tried Stickles before as glitter is banned in our home, so fingers crossed it isn't too messy.

I've got another decoupaged christmas card to show you today. This is from the House Mouse 'Deck the Halls' set and this is one of my favourite images. The great thing about these cute little meeces is that they work for all ages. I printed a matching background paper from the House Mouse Inserts cd and just stuck it all together. Another quick christmas card for the pile!

Cold and Frosty the Snowman

Well it certainly is a bit nippy in the air today but at least it's not raining. So here's my cold and frosty card.
The decoupage is from the Joanna Sheen Giordano Christmas Creations cd and I printed it off at half size to make a smaller card. This really is an amazing cd and is also being offered as candy this week at the Joanna Sheen blog here. The little robin was in my bit box so I'm not sure where he came from and I used a calligrapher pen to give a gold edge to the card but it doesn't show up too well in the photo. I've kept it CAS as the decoupage is so effective and also because it's for a boy.

Saturated Canary Gift Tag

Over at Little Darlings Design Team Inspiration blog they have a competition running. You have to make a gift tag with a Saturated Canary image as the main focus and the prize is 4 rubber stamps from the next release. So for any of you SC fans that haven't noticed this competition, you'd better get a move on as there are still a couple of days to enter.

I finally got around to making my tag and in the end I kept it simple as all the embellies I tried just didn't work. I used Promarkers to colour the image and the paper is scraps I had left over from other projects. Then I just added a Marianne Creatable LR0189 piece of mistletoe with some gems for the berries. So here's my finished tag.

Thanks for dropping by to have a look

A Winter Fairy

Thanks for dropping by to visit and I hope you're all having a good weekend.

Well christmas will soon be upon us so here's another card I've made for the dreaded festive season!
I've used a really sweet Wee Stamps image called Winter Fairy and coloured her with Promarkers and went for a non traditional scheme. The background papers are Dovecraft Back to Basics III and Milton & Co Christmas and I used Marianne Creatables LR0185 to cut the snowflake from silver card. I finished it with a sentiment from LOTV and decided not to add any embellishments so that it will be flatter for posting.

Holly Fairy

Today sees a new challenge over at Paper Crafting Journey. The sponsor is Pink Cat Studio and the theme is 'Anything Goes' so a nice easy one and you have until 21st November to join in.There are some gorgous creations from my team mates to give you inspiration.

Here is the card I've made using a Pink Cat Studio image called 'Sugar Plum Fairy' although I've coloured her with Promarkers to be more of a Holly Fairy. The background papers were both free with magazines and I resisted the urge to add any embellies to keep it very plain and simple with just a sentiment as I think it works better that way.

Christmas Cutie

Well I had a great trip to the dentist yesterday as he uttered those wonderful words "All's okay, see you in 6 months" and as there is a craft shop nearby I just had to pop in and buy a few necessities!!

Today I've made another christmas card using a Lili of the Valley die-cut and this one is from the sheet called 'angelic christmas'. I used Marianne Craftables CR1214 die to make a frame for the image and Spellbinders Impressabilities Snowflake to emboss a piece of card to mount it on. The background papers were both free with magazines and the sentiment is one of the LOTV grunge set. To finish it off I added a ribbon bow, rhinestones and charm all from my stash.

In the Pink

Just a quick post today as I'm off to the dentist in half an hour and yes I can see half of you cringing and the other half sighing with relief that it's not you!!

My card today is very pink and girly to fit in with a few challenges. I've used a gorgous Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers and touched up with a Sakura Gelly Roll glitter pen. The papers are all Dovecraft Back to Baics III which came in a bag of candy from Caz (thanks again Caz). I distressed the edges of all the papers and added pearls, ribbon and star from my stash. The flower is made from a strip of lace gathered up and an old pearl button sewn to the centre.

The sparkle doesn't show up so well so here's a close up at an angle so that you can see it a bit better

A Happy House Mouse Birthday

Just a quick post today as want to get this card entered in a challenge over at Cards for Men. I don't make many male cards but this one is for my sons birthday later this month. I know this is his favourite House Mouse as he happened to catch sight of the decoupage sheet some time ago. Mind you the thought of a jar of chocolate chips probably had something to do with it!!

I had the papers free with a magazine - I think one is from Raspberry Road Designs - but being spots they've sat in the bottom of a box and I only found them yesterday when I was doing a bit of sorting. I don't seem to be able to work with spots or stripes very well, but I am really pleased with the way this card has turned out. I finished it off with a sentiment which I made on the computer.

My First DT card

Good Morning to you and I hope your day has started well.

Here is my first card as a member of the DT of Paper Crafting Journey. The current challenge is 'Ribbon or Twine' and is sponsored by The Paper Shelter. If you want to join in or just take a look at the fabulous creations from my teamies click here.

I've used a super image from the Paper Shelter called 'A little bit grumpy' and she was a dream to colour in with my Promarkers. My home is surrounded by trees and at this time of year the colours are amazing so I went for an autumnal colour scheme and the backgroound papers are Prima Botanical Collection. The die I used is Memory Box Macarena Corner. The lovely red flower and pearls are from my stash and the ribbons I used were saved from an easter egg and box of chocolates.

A Christmas Star

Hello to you all and a special hello to my new followers, thanks for dropping by on this cold and windy day. I've got the dreaded flu germs and haven't felt like doing much for the past few days but I have managed to put together a christmas card today.

I've used another cute Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers and I decoupaged the little cherub. I added some sparkle with Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen on the wings and star but it hasn't shown up on the photo. Then I layered the image on some silver mirri card and then on to a Marianne Creatable LR0180 die. The background paper is from Bearly Mine Design and I used the same paper mounted on white card for the border and then wrapped a piece of white ribbon round it. I finished it off with a sentiment and silver gems from my stash.

Another Halloween card

Hi and thanks for taking the time to drop by to have a look at my card today.

I really loved the background papers from Bearly Mine Designs that I used for my first Halloween card so I decided to make another card using them. I did exactly the same for the background, cutting the centre out of the orange cobweb and layering it on to the purple paper. This time I used a Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers and stuck on with sticky pads. The dies I used were Marianne Creatables LR0157 and LR0111 for the corner bits and Memory Box swirly tree, which were all cut from black card. I finished it off with a couple of clipart bats

The photo is a bit weird because of the lighting, but I think it looks more spooky !!

Clean & Simple in Yellow & Black

Hi everyone, thanks for dropping by and I hope you all had a good weekend.

The card I made today is something a bit different for me so I will be very interested in any comments you may leave and what you think of my attempt at a CAS style.

I used a Lasting Impressions embossing stencil which I dry embossed onto a circle of white card and I coloured the flowers with Promarker pens lemon and summer sun. The black patterned paper is from the Paper Cellar layered onto a piece of card. I used Cheery Lynn die DL112 for the butterflies which again were coloured with the same Promarkers and finally I added a sentiment which I made on the computer.

Just had a quick look at this posting and I've noticed how much this resembles a poached egg.... Oops!!

This the sketch I followed from MMCS

A Marianne Christmas and My Great news

I was being a very good girl yesterday and put my energy into housework so never got around to checking my mail until late.. and when I did I couldn't believe it. I had an email from Wendy asking me if I'd like to join the design team at Paper Crafting Journey, so without any hesitation I replied....   err YES please. So I can't wait for my start date on 1st November and hope that you lovely people who pop by to visit me will also take the time to visit the challenge blog here.

Right on to my creation for today and I decided to have a go at making a Christmas decoration.
I started with a circle of white card and dry embossed some tiny snowflakes all over it. I die cut some trees with Marianne Creatables LR0136 and as I wanted a 3D effect I attached them with sticky pads. The cute image is a Marianne Designs Eline stamp coloured with Promarkers, cut out and again attached with sticky pads. I then cut a ring out of white card and as I haven't got any holly dies I added Marianne Creatables CR1216 around the edges to make a wreath. (I got the idea from Enfys at Going Buggy here). This wreath was then attached to the base circle with sticky pads and finished with a piece of mistletoe from Marianne Creatables LR0189, silver gem berries and red ribbbon.

B.. is for Bauble with Dimension

For my card today I've used a gorgous Mo Manning image coloured with Promarkers and with a touch of Sakura sparkles pen. (Unfortunately the sparkles on the wings and halo don't show up on the photo)
I printed the image twice and cut out the little angel and bauble top which I then layered with sticky pads to give it a bit of depth and then placed it on silver card. Then I fixed this to the base card with sticky pads and I added a sentiment layered onto a piece of silver card and again fixed with sticky pads.
I used a Cheery Lynn sleigh border die cut in silver card which I cut up and layered 2 deep so that it stands off from the card. The background paper is from the Kate Knight Christmas Collection and the silver corner peel-off  and silver gems are from my stash.

I used this photo for inspiration

Christmas with stripes

I see so many cards posted on blogs using stripy or spotty papers and they look simply fabulous, but whenever I try to use them the cards look really terrible. So this time I decided to try a different approach.... instead of using more than one paper I went for a single striped background paper and kept it as simple as possible.

The paper I used is from a pad called 'Cosy Christmas Collection' which was free with a magazine and the image is one of the Lili of the Valley die-cuts. I added Memory Box Frostyville Border and Marriane Creatables LR0189 mistletoe die-cuts and the flowers, icicle and sentiment are from my stash. I'm pretty pleased with the finished result and maybe I'll start using stripes a bit more now.

Autumn colours

I love the colours in Autumn with all the browns, oranges, reds, yellows and greens as well as all the other shades in between. Pity about the chill in the air, although you do warm up a bit sweeping up all those leaves.

So my card today has an autumn theme and follows a sketch. I used a Don and Daisy image from Marianne Designs which I coloured with Promarkers and layered onto a piece of brown card. The background papers are Prima Botanical Collection and I used a selection of Marianne Creatable dies LR 0157, LR0156, LR0189 for the flowers / foliage. The doily, ribbon, pearls and orange flowers are from my stash. I used chalks to distress the background paper and doily.

Trick or Treat

Hello and thanks for dropping by to visit my little bit of Blogland and a special hello to my lovely followers.

I've never made a Halloween themed card before as I never send them or get asked to make one, but as so many challenges at the moment have this theme I thought I should have a go... especially as Donna at Bearly Mine Designs has some fabulous freebie papers that are just crying out to be used.

I printed both papers onto card and cut out the centre of the orange one to leave just the cobwebs as a border and then layered them both on to black base card. I hadn't got a Halloween Tilda but thought this one would be suitable for going out 'trick or treating'. I coloured her with Promarkers & Aqaumarkers and sat her on a cobweb with sticky pads. Finally I added a couple of clipart bats and used sticky pads for those as well.

Christmas Across the Miles

Well I've finally managed to stop imagining myself still lying on the beach and get myself into the mood to make a card.

I've used one of the cute Lili of the Valley die-cuts - great for when you just haven't got time to colour an image. The background paper is from Bearly Mine Designs and the sentiment is one I made on the computer. I used Memory Box Frostyville Border and Marianne Creatable LR0136 tree dies. Other bits from my stash were scraps of embossed card. a christmas decoration and some red gems.

Back to Reality.... plus news of some Fantastic Candy

Well after 3 weeks away in Thailand it's back down to earth for me. I can't believe that just a couple of days ago I was sat roasting on the beach and having to have a dip in the pool to cool down (or try to) Here are a couple of photos of a fantastic hotel in Hua Hin where we spent our last few days.

This is the view from the beach

and here's the view from the garden terrace looking down to the beach

It was wonderful to wake up to the sight of the sun and sea, then after a superb breakfast (eat as much as you want) it was just a few steps down onto the sandy beach. There were 2 swimming pools - one was salt water with a jacuzzi.  Now in case you think this would cost a fortune and I must have won the lottery I can tell you that this deluxe room with sea view and breakfast cost us a grand total of £50 a night for 2 people. Oh well, now back to reality and woolly jumpers!!

You'll want to check this out -
The other part of this post is to let you know about some REALLY FABULOUS MEGA candy from Donna at Bearly Mine Designs. The first candy is open to all her followers and contains 9 rubber stamps, 9 dies. ribbons, flowers and surprises. The second candy is an an Epson printer which is open to UK followers only.

The candy will run until 30th November and here is the link to find out more.
Well hopefully I'll get back into some routine in the next few days and shall be popping around to see you. Hope you all  have a great weekend xx
